Is Hillary's 3rd comeback already dead in the water?
Eleanor Clift pointed out on the Mclaughlin show that Tuesday was Hillary's third resurrection, the other two being New Hampshire and Super Tuesday. But it looks like her mo didn't even last until the end of the week. Funny how caucuses keep killing her comebacks, isn't it?

p.s. the show was recorded before Obama's Wyoming blowout.

which might give her a chance at veep, so I'm hoping Philly, Pittsburgh, Allentown and Erie help out and make sure that doesn't happen.

4. What I don't get is Clinton says Obama not wrapping up the nomination proves people have doubts.
Yet couldn't she say the same thing about herself, as well? If the voters wanted her to wrap up the nomination, wouldn't she have done it in Iowa and then in South Carolina and then on Super Tuesday? Had Clinton won South Carolina, this race would've been over for Obama. Had Clinton won a few more key states on Super Tuesday, this race would have been over by now. And yet we're in the same position we were in post-super Tuesday and it doesn't look like Clinton will win, either.

The fact that Obama won Iowa said it all: people have "doubts" about Hillary, and that's putting it politely.

19. Wyoming will go blue in the GE? are you fucking serious? will Alaska go blue? how about Utah? how
about Nebraska? how about Kansas? North Dakota? Louisiana? Alabama? Georgia? South Carolina?

they won't switch no matter who the dem nominee is, hate to tell you that.

why did under 9K ppl vote in WY when there are over 59K registered Dems in the state?

He won the pop vote by about 3,400 but Hillary won the popular vote in Ohio by almost 230,000. It's not that WY doesn't count, but your a fool if you think it counts the same as NY, CA, Mass etc.

No, I don't see any red swing states switching for Hillary in November, but Obama is the crossover magnet, so I think he stands a chance with some of them.

Ohio's elections I frankly don't trust so I'm guessing they'll go for McCain in November no matter what.

I really don't see us losing any blue states this election. Not with the turnout we've been seeing. We need some red states to make it a big win. Then the new Democratic president will have ....what was it Bush called it...."political capital"! :bounce: (And we intend to spend it!)

Oops, edited for spelling.

NE, ND, and SC on your list in play for Obama OH also shows in Obama's column in a GE.

WY delegates are distributed bases on size, GE history, etc. The formulas may be found here:

http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P08/D-Alloc.phtml

Your arguments were already taken into consideration at the time the delegates were allocated.

she is paying back the loan and creating a warchest that will last the rest of her life.

If Obama loses she will have $ 50 million to launch another bid. (she has about $ 29 million in GE funds already)

If she were to be VP she would have to put that into the campaign. aint going to happen

6. I think so
It doesn't really matter though she didn't get the kind of momentum she needs. The only thing that could save her now is to convince people that Obama isn't a viable option - that he's an also ran without a serious possibility of winning. HRC may take a few more but she needs to take ALL of them by huge margins (65-35 ish) to even have a chance, and she's about to go lose Mississippi.

Obama is still raising funds much faster than she is http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/mar/06/barackobama.uselections2000

and as the CBC's washington correspondent put it the other day "One of the worst kept secrets in Washington is that the Clinton campaign is out of money".

So, he just needs to keep doing what he's doing - she'll run out of primaries or run out of funds sooner or later.

38. Please, Don't Read People's Posts In A Vacuum.
The posts don't stand alone. They are in relation to other posts that need to be read for context. If you take them in a vacuum, it can lead to your being misguided or inaccurate in your perceptions.

In this case, I was replying to the OP. The context of the OP was about momentum, and her having lost it. In relation to that context, my reply is laughing my ass off at the wildly irrational ideal, since as it relates to momentum, today meant nothing to anybody, period.

In an OP screaming out about losing her momentum, a blatant post of mockery saying it meant nothing, obviously would mean it meant nothing as it relates to the momentum of the two. You obviously need to work on your reading comprehension skills, and need to work on not reading posts in a vacuum as well.

OP: About momentum. My reply: About momentum.

55. Here is the problem, OMC
DU has become full of anger and hate lately. You are a veteran poster and have very good things to add to many conversations. Don't add to the insanity around here.

I fear that we have lost the 2008 race. There is too much anger between the Clinton and Obama camps. It is not just here, but in the real world of the Democratic base too. I don't see Clinton supporters coming out for Obama nor do I see the reverse. I have seen some nasty primary fights in the past, but this one takes the cake. It is slash and burn all the way.

I used to chalk up the nasty threads to trolls, but that's not the case anymore. There is genuine disgust between the two camps. I don't see us as a party getting over this.

39. Eleanor's wrong on the number. There have been 2 comebacks...
... New Hampshire and this last Tuesday. Super Tuesday was, by all estimates, a sound Obama victory. Hillary was projected to win Super Tuesday, but Obama managed to beat her on all fronts.

As for New Hampshire and this last week, note that her comebacks are precipitated by projection of victimization at the hands of the media. Hillary would be done if she weren't doing so damn well on the pity front.

but she won enough to stay in the race: CA, MA, NJ, New Mexico, Arizona, Arkansas, OK, and Tennessee, according to CNN. Obama won the other thirteen states, but it was a pretty good night for Hillary.

49. That's my point. Somehow it's a comeback for Hillary ...
... even though she had predicted that the election would be over following Super Tuesday. Obama's showing was a slight numerical victory, but a massive moral victory.

Did the NY Giants lose their underdog status during the Super Bowl when the took the lead, on the scoreboard, over the heavily favored Patriots? Answer: no. The Giants remained the underdog, regardless of the score, though the momentum and score swung back and forth.

How is the DLC/establishment candidate now the underdog?

wont count, and if they do it wont be enough in Hillary's favor. The only option she has is to beg the superdelegates to give her the nomination, and I don't think they will. What's their rationale? After PA, there's IN and NC which will probably go to Obama. Then they split the states until montanan and south dakota which Obama will probably win. No, I think Hillary is a dead candidate. The only thing she can do is try to bash Obama, but this is good for Obama as he can expect this in the general election, and he may need to be vetted more.

They ignore Obama's victories to focus on states that Hillary has a chance in.
