hilarious thread on a site that shall remain nameless
google "election results 14th district" and follow the first thing listed.

To those not familiar, Oberweiss is a dairy magnate who has run and lost in several contests before finally winning the primaries for both th especial election (today) to fill Hastert's unexpired term, and the regular election in the Fall for the next term. muckain came here for a fundraiser with him.

Obama endorsed Foster once the primaries were over, and did an ad for him. Foster has a blurb on his website saying:

Yes we did!
http://www.foster08.com/

He ran a great ad that was a parody of an Oberweiss Dairy ad - bunch of cows shewing their cud - voiceover would ask something like "is Jim Oberwiess trustworthy?" and a cartoon quote bubble would pop up saying noooooooo and there'd be a cow-mooing sound

Just read thru as the denizons of that link follow the returns on the Foster/Oberweiss election.

a few gems:

If Obie managers to lose a 60%+ registered Republican district, home to Ronald Reagan's boyhood town and designed to elect just about any "R" with a pulse, what will all his supporters say who DEMANDED we select this guy in 2006 because supposedly he was the "only" conservative who could take out Topinka and then "beat Blago"

The mere fact that the ICRC doesn't support him is reason enough for me to get behind the man. Those creeps are the boneheads who foisted JBT and Alan Keyes on us.

Half of 'em belong in prison right next to George Ryan.

Oberweis is barely winning Kendall county, Hastert and the Illinois Republican party can’t even help in Republican counties. It looks like Foster is going to win and the media will be all over this for weeks.

How many races has Oberweis lost? The Dem’s “Moo” commercial was hilarious

Oberweis needs to win this. The RNC dumped tons of cash to help this guy out.

Thanks for nothing Denny. If you weren’t going to serve your whole term the least you could’ve done is handle your succession better.

and the final mournful plea:
Aurora, where Oberweis is getting his can kicked, is also the home town of state Senator Chris Lauzen, who Oberweis defeated in a nasty GOP primary. If the GOP grovels enough, do you suppose that Lauzen would be willing to run again?

Goodness, with literary minds such as that we are totally screwn.

2. I grew up in Illinois until I was 17. Watching politics in that state is like watching Yankees...
play the Red Sox. Lot's of foul balls, dirt kicked over home plate, and Governors who get fired more often than a Yankee's manager.

4. Obie should stick to selling $5 half-gallons of milk.
They're good, but it's the kind of highway robbery you expect from a Republican businessman.
