1. I think we all take a look at the horror of a McCain White House and
we throw together behind our ticket.

That's the plan I'm hoping for.

I'm officially a dual citizen (250,000 of us in Ontario) - but no one, not the Americans I know here, or the people I know from Kansas and Cali are for Hillary.

None of the ones that Can't vote either (the Canadians I know here) - can't find a single one that likes Hillary.

53. Are you talking about Hill's Democratic supporters or her Republican ones?
I figure that Democrats will vote for the Democrat.

I know there are a few women who rabidly support Clinton based on her having a vagina. I suppose Obama could get a sex change operation in an attempt to win them over, but I wouldn't suggest that would be either smart or effective.

She also probably has some supporters who would never vote for a person of color. I suppose he could bleach his skin, but again, I wouldn't recommend that.

It's impossible to please everyone, so like I said, I'm not nearly as worried or think it's a problem as you do.

Obama is winning the popular vote, both in the big blue states as well as accross the board. He has won the most states by far, has
a very commanding lead in delegates.

I'm sure that after Clinton concedes he will reach out to her voters and ask for there support. And the vast majority will be happy to give it to him. He is a Democrat after all and so are they.

24. Since she has already endorsed John McCain, it will be up to her individual supporters.
They can vote for McCain's perpetual wars, the continued global corporatist takeover of our civil rights and lives, the continued war on science and the planet, and they can vote for McCain's finishing off Bush's stacking the Supreme Court for a full generation if they wish.

I'm OK with some her supporters voting for John McCain instead of Obama because if they make that choice, that hideous choice, then they never were Democrats to begin with.

31. For this one, he cannot.
He blew that chance when he praised Reagan, got in bed with militant anti-gay bigots in SC*, and bashed liberalism. He cannot win me over now. Period. I will NEVER trust him.

*I know this area of the country, because I live here. I know what those "Ex-gay" people are like. They rape lesbians and they are violent thugs toward gay men, not to mention the fact that what they stand for is spiritual abuse. Anyone who would agree with doing all that stuff to someone is too vile for any forgiveness from me. EVER. I will NEVER forget getting raped by that bunch nor will I EVER forgive Obama for siding with them.

So, for this Democrat, there is NO WAY I will support him.

50. So, what is McCain's record on gay rights?
"Sen. John McCain said Thursday that he supports an initiative that would change Arizona's Constitution to ban gay marriages and deny government benefits to unmarried couples.

The Republican senator became the most prominent Arizonan to add his voice to what has become a flurry of measures competing for a place on the state's Nov. 7, 2006, ballot"

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0826initiatives26.html

So...am I hearing you correctly....you would not prevent McCain from being president even though Obama's record on gay rights is better than McCain's? Put another way, you see some problems with obama on gay rights so your reaction is to act in such as way as someone even worse is going to win? Good luck with that one!

Come on! Be friggin real!

seeing this guy as we hrc supporters have for the longest. I know and I speak for myself this guy obama is maybe a step above a reprobate and when a guy who sells himself as "wholesome" and engages in the race baiting and playing the race card as he and his staff and from a few willing whoremedia people this guy is no good.

Obama knowing damn well that neither Bill or Hillary Clinton were bigots or racists and obama sat back and watched all this play out without saying a word during January and prior to South Carolina. There was no need for either Clinton to play the race card. They had there percentage of the black community that supported them, but Who gained power by splitting the party and getting Democrats to fight Democrats? Very simple Barack Obama!

chance. Once they are forced to, I think they will come to like him as much as I am. He wasn't my first choice but he keeps growing on me. And the choice between McCain and Obama is really no contest. Obama is intelligent, articulate and maintains self control. I have been rather impressed.

Edited to add:

If that fails, we can always give him a vagina. That should do the trick.

63. I think he is a smarmy huckster that would be able to play the lead in "The Rainmaker,
his wife an epic petulant brat that constantly sees "racism". He also is an overreaching, over his head promise maker that will be one of the greatest dissapointments of the early 21st Century as he muddles through a spectacular pile of rubble of the economy, debt, and not getting us out of Iraq or anywhere else for that matter that would make him look bad.

That's if he wins, and that's a big IF.

But again I will vote for him as our candidate. No matter what. You have the vote, I don't have to like him.

And the more distortions and hate that Howard Wolfson orchestrates, the tougher the healing will be.

68. He'll probably have to start talking policy, which in my case is one...
of the big reasons i don't like him, b/c he doesn't talk policy. If he wins the nom, he'll change strategy, he'll already have in followers in toe with 'hope/change' and he'll move on to policy talk to woo the pragmatic.

70. It goes both ways. Each person will have to decide on there own
I would have supported whoever the Democratic nominee was two weeks ago, but not anymore

When Hillary came out and said she and mccain were qualified to be president, and Obama was just a speech, and then continued to repeat it, constantly bringing mccain into the picture, I will NOT vote for hillary or mccain in the general election if they are the choices

73. I'll tell you how; Promis to make solving healthcare & the economic issues 'first day' Priority
'cuz he talks all inspiration & very little about getting help to the lower middle class. We need help now, not inspiration - actual healthcare reform as a first week in office type of priority. And this $2,500 savings won't be enough to off set the 30% rise in health care costs per year. I sincerely hope he can actually help people who are paying a third of their income for health care costs.

At this point the only reason I can see for voting for obama is because of the supreme court appointments.

92. I think Clinton needs to rethink her campaign and start
Exposing Obama for the racism he keeps plugging into his campaign. For the folks who haven't been watching the race as close as others I think one of her themes should be Obama is accusing Hillary and Bill of racism every other day because it's true.

Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:37 PM by blm
I follow MY priorities.

Had more Dem lawmakers and Dem voters made open government a priority we wouldn't have HAD a Bush2 or 9-11 would we?

BTW, I wouldn't classify you as a Clintonite - you came late to her candidacy and showed conflict in that decision. It's the loyalists who ignore the decades of protection for BushInc that I call Clintonites.

93. Hmm, Good Points.
I'm sorry for my label. I admit, I did mean to be snarky. I will be more careful in the future. You seem like a supporter of Obama & not a kool-aid drinker, if you will. It sure would be nice if more people in this forum would make more of an effort to promote their candidate instead of drag down the other candidate.

Peace (I hope):

DIng

84. I'll vote for Obama and I neither like nor trust him.
I support Hillary, but almost ANY Dem would be better than McCain/Leiberman.

No, Obama has not and will not "win me over." It's too late for that. But he'll get my vote if he wins the nomination.

He'd rather win over centrist and/or republican voters than win my vote, though, so there's no problem there.

89. He can continue as he has begun, they can take a deep breath
By being the person he is right now, the candidate he is right now and presenting the alternatives he presents right now. If the contrast between that and John McCain isn't adequate to win the votes of unhappy Clinton supporters than I guess it's just not good enough. I think it will be.

Many years ago I worked my ass off for Eugene McCarthy and got my ass kicked in the streets of Chicago. It soured me on electoral politics for a long time. I look back on that now and shake my head. I hope that others will be wiser than I was so that they won't have to look back and wonder what the heck they were thinking way back then.

91. I don't know. She's turned them all into whining babies with no respect
for democracy or for their own party.

Her naked, vile lust for power has led her to turn this into such a dirty contest that a pig would turn its nose at it.

She's taught her supporters to have no respect for anyone or anything and certainly not for any sort of loyalty.

I am so utterly done with the Clintons.

94. Do the Clinton supporters who dislike Obama want to live with
John McCain and his ongoing war? Do they want the half senile old coot next to the nuclear switch? Do they give a damn about abortion rights and the next Supreme Court nominee? There have been hurt feelings on both sides, but you've got to consider the bigger picture. If Hillary is the nominee, I don't expect a "gee, I'm sorry, please vote for me" card from her. When this fiasco is over and the votes are counted, we can't sit around and whine, we have to beat the Republicans.
