GET REAL: Local Democratic Party Machine Support = Support from Democratic Working Class Voters
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 01:04 PM by Skwmom
I keep hearing how Clinton has a lock on the working class vote. But didn't Obama win working class voters in the Potomac Primaries and WI, states where he HAD THE SUPPORT of a Democratic Governor or other party officials? Clinton won the vote in OH, NJ, MA etc. but didn't she have the support of the Governor AND/OR other party establishment?

It seems to me that Democratic Party support (in particular support of a Democratic GOV) = support of the working class vote. The working class will not vote for the Republican in Nov. As Rendell pointed out, Democrats in PA will vote for either Clinton or Obama in the general (though I don't think a majority of Obama supporters - especially black, first time voters, and those fed up with the system - will be there if Clinton is perceived as stealing the nomination)and the Democrats can't win OH, PA, or FL without these voters.

5. I know that
but I can assure you that the standard you are now using in regards to MA, applied to Ohio, will show no machine at all.

6. Give me a break. EACH state has different party machines in place.
In some states the Gov controls, in others it's on a much more local level. It was reported that in MA, it is the local level politicians which had all the support. In OH, the Governor and MANY of the local party officials supported Clinton.

7. there is no machine there
At least not an effective one. Until 2006 we were on a 20 something election losing streak.
