Wasserman Schultz retorts: Asking if a FL Dem first introduced early primary bill is "inappropriate"
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 01:29 PM by seafan
The cat is out of the bag now, Debbie.

And for the sake of the public learning the truth, it's about time.

.....

(Wasserman Schultz, a Hillary Clinton supporter) got into a bit of a tussle with Fox News Sunday host Brit Hume who challenged her for saying that Florida Democrats were "the victims" of the Republican-led Legislature, which moved up the primary. Hume asked her who introduced the bill to move up the primary in the Senate (a Democrat) and noted that most Democrats had voted for the bill.

Wasserman Schultz called it an "inappropriate line of questioning" and noted that the bill included a provision for a paper trail.

"There's no one in the Florida Legislature who was going to vote against...a paper trail," she said.

This woman should lose her job this November for helping cover up the responsibility of the FL Democratic Leadership and the complicit Democratic Legislative members in creating this entire debacle, while amplifying loud lies as a smokescreen that Howard Dean and the DNC were to blame.

People cannot tolerate elected leaders who lie.

6. They could have made an amendment to remove the Early Primary provision
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 01:39 PM by JackORoses
but they didn't even try.

Why would they? A Democrat introduced the bill he could have put whatever he wanted in it.
The Early Primary provision was included on purpose.

7. They don't control the republican legislature in FL. They had no choice and they weren't
giving up the paper trail for voters.

Ya see, some democrats have principles.

13. when a Democrat sponsors a bill, he controls what is in it.
The Democrat chose to put that Early Primary provision in.
Why did he do this if the Democrats didn't really want it?

8. Elect more ball-less Democrats?
That's the problem - not the damn solution. If the leading Democrats in the national Democratic Presidential Primary can't stand up to a bunch of third rate redneck Republicans, then what in the fucking hell are we worth?

10. Caught in a major lie, Ms. Wasserman Schultz.
(My quick and dirty summary from this thread...)

The Florida Democratic Party leadership bear the heaviest blame for what has transpired here, when they did not fully consider the unintended consequences of moving our primary up. When complicit Democrats in the FL legislature then put this idea forward, and voted unanimously for it, the Republicans were only too happy to lock them into the new, earlier primary date by attaching to the bill the paper ballot legislation that we desperately needed. When the FL Dem leadership was warned ahead of their actions of the stark position the DNC would take against them, the FL Dem leadership ignored Dean's warning and barged ahead with their plans anyway.

Then, when the DNC enforced long-standing rules and stripped FL's delegates, the FL Dem leadership was given 30 more days to change course. Now, shoved in a corner, the FL House and Senate Dems went back to the Republicans, begging to go back to the original later date for our primary. The Republicans grinned, and said, '*CHECKMATE*, you fools.'
