Obama's poll puts him far ahead of Ryan
Obama's poll puts him far ahead of Ryan

Taken during late March

Obama: 52 percent
Ryan: 33 percent

Obama's poll puts him far ahead of Ryan

I have a feeling Ryan is going to go very negative.

Sheesh! What am I coming to?

2. Obama has been exceptionally gracious...
...to Ryan in asking that his supporters not go negative. Ryan would be a fool to do so. I look forward to seeing Obama on the Senate Floor, as a resident of a neighboring state, I only wish we could do as well here. I still haven't decided who I want to support in my locals. 3rd Congressional District and US Senate from Missouri (for Bond(R) seat).

10. yeah, heard Gephardt in IA in November
and was very impressed. However, it does seem that time has taken its toll on him, and he has given a lot to both the congress and the party.

3. Mr. Obama seems to be a rising star
I predict big things for him in the future. However, if he gets to be too much of a threat to the bushco empire, one can bet that press releases will come out with misspellings of his last name.

4. That is fantastic news!
:bounce: Go Obama!

If Ryan goes negative, give Daley some time and we will see the Ryan divorce papers. That has to be in the back of Ryan's mind. He is hiding SOMETHING and whatever it is, it isn't good or he would have released the papers already. He may think twice about attacking Obama.

5. We learned to fight back in 2002.
For years, we tried to be the 'above it all' party and, as a result, we regularly had our asses handed to us. That changed in 2002, and we began to play by what Paddy calls 'Chicago rules', made famous by sean Connery in The Untouchables: "They put one of ours in the hospital, we put 10 of theirs in the morgue...".

We won control of all 3 branches of state government, something that had not happened in almost 40 years. THAT is what Ryan and his compadres are afraid of---- Illinois no longer has 'pink tutu' Democrats leading the party. :D

6. I've heard that Daley is worried if Obama loses
Edited on Mon Apr-12-04 09:09 PM by ButterflyBlood
he could be a possible opponent in the next mayoral primary. In other words, Daley won't let Obama lose. It's that simple. Daley wants him in, and he'll get in. If Ryan tries anything, Daley will definately make sure he gets fucked up. We're holding all the cards on this one.

7. I'm hearing that
The Chicago African-American community doesn't want a repeat of what happened in 1998 when many White Dems sat on the sidelines and failed to support Carol Moseley-Braun in her reelection bid.

They see it as a litmus test as to how serious the Democratic party is toward its most loyal constituents. African-Americans always vote for White Dem candidates in massive numbers. When the situation is reversed, the African-American candidate gets lukewarm support.

12. they're different canidates
I voted for her - but, I'm sorry, Ms. Moseley-Braun had/has a few political screws loose. Now Obama is a much, much stronger candidate.

I just hope he is not reading these polls too much, the misstepping of youthful exuberance being Obama's biggest potential negative. It's still way early and the Ryan name has a lot of negatives associated with it. Since most of these have nothing to do with the actual candidate, we could be looking at a different race come November.

I suspect this race is going to hinge on the national mood. If Bush is cruising to victory in Nov, things will be bad for Obama (and the rest of the world, for that matter), if it's close or Kerry looks like a winner, Obama will do the cruising. Illinois is a blue state.
