You might also want to rein in some of the more rabid of your flock and have them calm down. The idea is that they should be able to vote for the Dem in the fall. Shouting "Rezko, Farrakhan, Obama eats babies" doesn't help with that.

99. FWIW, Kucinich was far more progressive than Edwards... |
|
not sure how much of it had to do with the fact that JE had to vote towards the center to keep the folks in N. Carolina happy. But Kucinich WAS in the race, and his credentials (from a progressive standpoint) are hard to knock.
In any event, the country is going to need every last one of us to get out and vote for Senator Obama this November. Don't let something posted on a message board dissuade you from helping your country. Sitting at home is almost as bad as voting for the GOP. Heck, even if you vote Green or Socialist for POTUS, you can still help elect Democrats to Congress. I'd just hate to see the American Left once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

|
No one here hates Obama- or the campaign. Some however, do see a disturbing lack of critical thought and a certain arrogant naivety of what it'll take to win a general election.
And many people with a lot of experience don't want to see everyone else drug down with that, as has happened all too many times in the past?

35. Picking a President is NOT primarily a love/hate issue |
|
Barack Obama is a more likeable person than Hillary Clinton.
Barack Obama is intelligent, a great speaker, and has excellent interpersonal skills.
I did not vote for Barack Obama in the recent primary and will not vote for him in November because (a) he is grossly underqualified and underprepared for the presidency; (b) he has chosen to design his campaign around personality and emotional appeals rather than substance; (c) twice, in recent day, his campaign advisors have inadvertently revealed that their campaign positions don't necessarily coincide with Barack's actual positions; and (d) he exhibits poor judgment (seeking a position for which he is not qualified without first acquiring the requisite level of experience and by being addicted to tobacco).
I don't hate the man in the slightest. I feel certain that my family would enjoy his company much more than that of Hillary Clinton. I also feel certain that he does not yet have the skills or experience for the Presidency of the U.S.
I place his odds of winning the nomination at 80-85%, not the certainty that you'd like people to assume. Those of us who believe him unqualified have no choice but to try to persuade the Democratic Party to nominate a candidate for whom we can vote.

And your advice that the supporters of certain candidates should calm down those in their camp that are out of control is excellent.
I applaud it every time i see a Clinton supporter call down an Obama hater.
I applaud every time I see an Obama supporter call down a Cllinton hater.
Certainly you do not believe this is a one-sided problem?

60. There is ill will on both sides, but it is very unlikely that Clinton will be the candidate. |
|
This means that the Hillary haters merely need to tone it down enough not to bring her up once she's out of the race. The Obama haters need to do a lot more calming down because they need to be able to support the nominee.

|
and only vote the down line. I am considering doing that if Obama is the nominee and I cannot in good concionce talk anyone else out of doing so as well.I just don't think I can pull the lever for Obama. I could try but it isn't likely.

to recognize that there are a lot of people (not just here, but everywhere) that disagree with your premise.
And though many find it anathema, there is still a strong possibility of a joint ticket.
But whatever reasoning any of us want to use, the haters on both sides need to be shut done. It is destructive to the party whichever side it comes from.

Hillary is going all the way to the convention in Denver; and, when the SDs look at the states that each of the candidates has won, they will conclude that Clinton is the best choice to defeat McCain. Will you then do the Jonestown thing?

How powerful and effective a team would that be?
But sadly, the fight for top dog is going to prevent that, in the near future at least.

Not supporting a candidate doesn't mean you "hate" them. Being for one candidate doesn't mean you hate the other one. Jeez, get a grip, people. This is starting to get like "why do you hate America?".

106. She's not making those promises though. |
|
I find it her to trust someone who makes promises he can't keep and then, after the fact, places conditions on those promises.
Clinton, for all her faults, will more likely say the wrong thing but in the end do the right thing.

What is so FUCKING GREAT about a candidate that offers absolutely nothing?
Obama might not be able to deliver everything, but at least we get something.
It makes no sense.
I'm almost ready to put anyone using this argument on ignore, because I am just so sick of the constant "But Hillary isn't selling herself as the candidate offering: peace, better wages, clean air, not to kill your dog, to let you live etc."
WTF DOES SHE OFFER?

112. What she offers is a history that is predictable. |
|
You can moan and ignore all you want but the Clinton presidency on balance was more progressive than regressive. It is a fair indicator of what she offers for the next 4 years.
If you don't like it, don't vote for her. Simple. But the hatred and bullshit spewn at her is not only wrong for the most part but says nothing in favor of Obama. Vote for him because he's not her. Or her husband. Stupid.
Obama, on the other hand, in the short time he's been running, has regularly contradicted himself on his plans for Iraq, has regularly conditioned, to the point of meaninglessnesss, any promise that has survived the contradictions and, in my view, has shown a willingness to throw principle aside, to the same level, at least, of Hillary Clinton.
I prefer to vote for someone whose faults as well as strengths are well known rather than to vote for an incipient hypocrite.

I personally don’t know anyone who’s going to vote for the guy in the GE and neither me, or any of my close friends have ever voted for anyone besides a DEM. One friend said they would be voting for him, just because he was probably going to be the nominee, but after I told him about Barack accusing the Clintons of being racists in SC, he said he couldn’t vote for Barack either.
What does that mean? hell of I know..... it’s just the way it is.

that a stack of random poker chips may well contain chips of rather quite various denominations i.e a stack of 12 (which is what y'all cannot get past) $5 to even $10 chips does not therefore equal a shorter stack of chips worth far much more...sorry

So both sides should stop the bullshit spreading of ill will already.
Your message would've been far more effective and honorable if it hadn't been so foolishly biased. What you said applies to both camps, and it would've served you better to have framed it as such.
