Brand Obama can’t take competition, hires Starbucks lawyer to fight Hillary…March 4, 2008
Well. Talk about funny. I’ve always thought that Obama had some connection to Starbucks the brand, and now it turns out he has a lawyer that has worked for them, trying to keep Hillary from being able to advertise. What a cheap shot he is, isn’t he? Looks like he can’t stand any competition!

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/02/obama_backers_complain_to_fec.html

First he comes off telling everyone he was against the war and blames Hillary Clinton. Well, a lot of us are against the war, but you know what? In retrospect what was our country supposed to do, Barack Obama? Where were you the day 9/11 happened? Well?

The point is, what is your stance now, like say on this company Blackwater. Actually, you sound a little war mongering to me, and the whole world is looking at you right now. You keep waffling on your stances don’t you?

http://rinf.com/alt-news/politics/obamas-blackwater-problem/2565/

Or wait! There’s this from the Washington Times on you! What? You got money this way?

http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20080222/NATION/853452725

Shouldn’t the FEC really be investigating YOU? In a deeper way? Because who is monitoring you and what you are doing in the web right now? Is anyone in Washington on top of you?

Maybe your campaign manager should read this piece from the Star Tribune, because your brand is wearing pretty thin.

http://www.startribune.com/business/16136902.html

Here’s Boston Now on his Starbuck’s lawyer:

“A member of the Perkins Cole corporate law firm’s executive committee, Robert Bauer, is the Obama Campaign’s lawyer in 2008. Yet, ironically, the law firm of the Obama Campaign’s lawyer represented the special corporate interests of Starbucks and a dozen retailers in 2003 “in a class action for alleged false advertising and consumer fraud,” according to the Perkins Cole law firm’s web site at www.perkinscoie.com “

http://www.bostonnow.com/blogs/oldmole/2008/02/18/obama-campaign-lawyer039s-firm-represented-starbucks

More on all of this from the fabulous Los Angeles Times here:

http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/816965/26552658

“Last week after the Clinton group announced its plan to launch TV ads on …

… Friday, the Obama campaign convened a news conference and threatened legal action. Obama attorney Robert Bauer warned that the pro-Clinton group would be violating federal law by airing the spots because donations to the planned effort would be unlimited.

The legal action could include criminal penalties, the attorney warned, and could be a “life-changing” experience for the consultants and any donors.

Apparently the threats worked and the Clinton people and donors blinked. Plus, trends in recent polls in both states have seemed rather ominous for the New York senator.“

So, check this out from www.huliq.com

http://www.huliq.com/52388/obama-follow-money-campaign-donors. Who’s this Auchi guy?

http://amerpundit.com/2008/02/26/rezko-obama-and-auchi/

And what does he have to do with Rezko? I expect we’ll be finding out pretty soon, huh. In the meantime America is watching you Brand Obama. For somebody who is constantly saying how ethical they are? Are you? The New York Times is watching, thank god.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/30/us/politics/30donate.html

“After months of denouncing the influence of special-interest money in politics, Senator Barack Obama is nonetheless entering a critical phase of the presidential campaign benefiting from millions of dollars being spent outside campaign finance rules.

Mr. Obama has repudiated a California group, Vote Hope, that is working on his behalf. But it has pressed on and, along with a sister organization called PowerPac.org, is planning to spend up to $4 million promoting him in California and conducting voter registration drives aimed at blacks in 11 Southern states. “

More on you and your brand from Fortune…don’t

49. I don't know where Obama was, but I was in the North Tower
and don't blame any Democrat who voted for the IWR. I blame Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld for disregarding their concerns and attacking Iraq 5 months later. As far as Obama conveniently bringing up the issue when he was in no position to vote on the matter, I consider it as slimy as his votes to fund the war without saying a peep against them until he decided that he was going to run in 2008. As always, the esteemed senator from IL does not take any risks but panders to those who can get him ahead.

Look Before You Leap: Obama’s Mobbed-Up Allies
By SusanUnPC on January 27, 2008 at 3:43 PM in Alexi Giannoulias, Barack Obama, Chicago politics, Tony Rezko

UPDATE x2: They’re thick as thieves … “$$$: State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias was last spotted trying to set up a Saturday morning basketball game in Las Vegas

so Barack Obama could loosen up on primary day .” — From Mike Sneed’s column at the Chicago Sun-Times, Jan. 18, 2008

UPDATE: At the end of this story, I’ve added an update showing the connection between the indicted Tony Rezko, who goes on trial Feb. 25 before Patrick Fitzgerald

and his U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago, and Alexi Giannoulias.

From the Chicago Tribune in its story, “Critics: Obama endorsements counter calls for clean government“: “In the 2006 Democratic primary, for example, Obama

endorsed first-time candidate Alexi Giannoulias for state treasurer despite reports about loans Giannoulias’ family-owned Broadway Bank made to crime figures.

Records show Giannoulias and his family had given more than $10,000 to Obama’s campaign, which banked at Broadway.”
presidential campaign, aiming for $100,000.]

That’s Barack Obama endorsing “granny grifter” Alexi Giannoulias, who got elected as Illinois’ state treasurer with the hands-on support of Barack Obama. Besides

his mob ties, Giannoulias “was involved in an alleged mortgage fraud five years ago against an 83-year-old woman.”

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Obama-->Rezko-->Auchi-->Saddam Hussein & Muammar al-Gadaffi
EXCUSE ME:

Obama got his money from Rezko who got his 3.5 million from Auchi:

Where's the media?

-Nadhmi Auchi is an Iraqi-born billionaire who was charged along with Saddam Hussein for conspiring to assassinate Prime minister (president) Abdul Karim Qasim

and stood trial in 1959. (Auchi gave fellow Baath Party members machine guns from his home for Saddam Hussein.)

-Auchi protected secret money for Saddam Hussein AND Muammar al-Gadaffi.

(Remember, Obama's Trinity church Pastor Wright went with Nation of Islam minister Louis Farrakhan in 1993 to visit Libyan socialist leader Gadaffi.)

-Auchi also financially backed Saddam Hussein's plan for a pipeline from Iraq to Saudi Arabia.

-Rezko was also a business partner with Nation of Islam Founder's son: Jabir Herbert Muhammad.

Why isn't the media talking about all of Barack Obama's scary friends who have ties to the worst people in history?

*Don't forget William (Bill) Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn of the Weather Underground.

*Obama's cousin Raila Odinga who just became co-President of Kenya this week (after 1,000 people were killed) whom Obama is said to be close to...who signed a

secret pact with Muslim jihadists who were to ethnically cleanse people?

And why does Raila Odinga use Obama's exact same campaign slogan: CHANGE....Vote for CHANGE: Look at his website:

January 30...
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/30/us/politics/30donate.html
Mr. Obama’s campaign says it has taken pains to discourage these efforts on its behalf, and in fact the campaign has no recourse in controlling them. “We do not think people should be donating to 527s,” said Bill Burton, a campaign spokesman. “We would rather have them involved in our campaign. It is our hope that anyone who supports Obama does so directly through his campaign and not through these outside groups.”

Mr. Obama has lined up support from unions representing plumbers and pipefitters, as well as hospitality and garment workers. One union, Unite Here, plans to mobilize its 450,000 members through direct mail advertisements, phone banks and door-to-door visits in Super Tuesday states. It will also continue efforts, begun in Nevada, to run pro-Obama television and radio spots, many in Spanish and aimed at voters in California. The plumbers’ and pipefitters’ union, which has 340,000 members, said it was working with the Obama campaign to get out its membership and was encouraging members to donate time as Obama campaign volunteers.

Unlike 527s, unions can coordinate some activities with campaigns, and spending by their political action committees must be reported to federal regulators.

he two California groups supporting Mr. Obama, Vote Hope, which is a 527, and PowerPac.org, which is a nonprofit group, are both creations of Steve Phillips, a longtime social activist and lawyer who founded PowerPac.org five years ago.

“We have a chance to make an impact,” Mr. Phillips said. “There are not the resources within the Obama campaign to organize. You need a dedicated organization with a dedicated revenue stream.”

The nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) has found that Mrs. Clinton has accepted more than $750,000 from lobbyists so far during the presidential campaign, while Mr. Obama took more than $85,000.

Massie Ritsch, a spokesman for the center, said the group's figures include donations from family members of federal lobbyists as well as contributions from state and municipal lobbyists. He also said the Obama campaign has a good track record of returning money from current federal lobbyists once they learn of the contributions.

"The money goes right back out the door," he said.

The records show that partners at Covington & Burling LLP had given the Obama campaign more than $25,000 in contributions last year, including $10,650 since October.

Covington & Burling lawyer Eric Holder, a former top deputy in the Justice Department and U.S. attorney for the District, gave $4,600 to Mr. Obama. An adviser for the campaign, he was registered as a lobbyist in 2003 but does not currently lobby, records show.

Obama backers complain to FEC over Clinton allies

By Jim Tankersley

A group of Barack Obama supporters in Ohio have filed a formal complaint to the Federal Elections Commission, asking the nation's top campaign finance regulators to investigate and potentially shut down - and prosecute - an outside group that has pledged to run advertisements boosting Hillary Clinton in Ohio and Texas.

As Mark Naymik reported in the Plain Dealer of Cleveland, Ohio, earlier today, a Cleveland lawyer and Obama backer (who was a failed candidate for Ohio attorney general in 2006) named Subodh Chandra filed the complaint on behalf of three low-income Ohioan Obama supporters. The complaint alleges the pro-Clinton American Leadership Project, which is organized as a so-called "527" group that is set up to advocate on political issues, violates campaign finance laws because the only issue it appears to advocate is ... Hillary Clinton's election.

"The project's exclusive purpose (is) to support Senator Clinton's campaign through the funding and airing of sham issue ads," the complaint alleges -- and to allow "maxed-out" financial supporters to circumvent federal election rules and continue to help Clinton.

The complaint says the Leadership Project should have registered as a political committee and been subject to federal fundraising limits. It requests "an expedited civil investigation, fines, immediate injunctive relief to prevent irreparable tainting of the primaries and, if appropriate, a referral for criminal investigation."

The Obama campaign complained about the Leadership Project earlier this week but said it would leave any FEC complaints up to others.

Submitted by SWU on Thu, 01/10/2008 - 10:42pm.

By Stephen Foley in New York, The Independent

Published: 11 January 2008

Labor experts not involved with the case said the activity is not illegal. But the emails could prove embarrassing because they show managers using various methods to identify pro-union employees.
