The Democratic Party, both in the Congress and 2008 Campaign - |
|
- are in a complete meltdown. Jumping at shadows, clinging to power, devouring their own.
I see one possible pathway ahead to redeem this mess. Draft Al Gore by acclamation on a second ballet to be the nominee of the Party. If we cannot lead on solid principles, morality and enlightened citizenship - we do not need to lead.
Where is the leadership?

drafting anyone is a bad idea.
Convention is only 9 weeks from election.
Gore has no money, no ground organization, no campaign staff, no articulated campaign positions, other than his writings of the last 7 years.
How is he going to make it all happen in 9 weeks?
I love Gore, he was my first choice for a long time, but he didn't run. His choice.
I'm not even sure that he would be in favor of being drafted.

2. Thanks for the thoughtful response. |

I believe Al Gore loves this country too much to see it lost in the wilderness of another four to eight years of despair. If this Congress and this 2008 campaign continues in the direction it is going, the Democrats will have lost all credibility.
The divisions in this country over the past eight years - all cleverly orchestrated by the corporate media - are causing a frenzy of hatred and impotence. I do not foresee a positive outcome being brokered as this continues, unless we reach out for a leader who has been above the fray.
That the long view. from here.

3. I agree with your rationale. |

Al Gore doesn't do it for me but I do agree about the corp. media, and hope/wish we could do something.
