Hillary Supporters: Do you agree with her that McCain is better for Commander in Chief than Obama? |
|
Hillary really did make a fairly serious statement in saying that both she and McCain were qualified to be Commander in Chief, but that Obama was not (that all he did was "make a speech"). I'm just wondering whether Hillary supporters agree with this, or whether you just look at this is as meaningless campaign banter?

What exactly does that statement mean to you if not that?

That is NOT what she said...and if you had half a brain, you would know it. Or maybe you DO have that half a brain...but would rather just take the opportunity to post this for the bazillionth time for it's "shock effect"--since it has been a couple of hours since the LAST time someone posted it.

5. Actually I haven't been here for a week...but feel free to continue to trash me... |
|
I haven't been here for over a week, but I don't doubt that someone posted a similar thing recently. However, I was honestly wondering what Hillary supporters think of this. I actually have a full brain and was rather shocked by the comments - apparently you aren't.
While I really was interested in an actually response here, apparently, I won't be getting anything but shitty attacks. Big surprise there.

That would HAVE to be the lie you are talking about, because I know what I heard her say. The OP has it dead on.

7. she has been very clear |
|
that she believes that McCain has the experience and qualifications to be president, but that he would take this county in the wrong direction.
She has said that she is the one with experience to lead us in the right direction and that Obama does not have the experience to lead us to the change he calls for...
This has been a theme of her campaign and the McCain statement you refer to is part of that theme. People are taking it out of context intentionally ...she has said over and over that McCain is wrong in his direction.
I absolutely agree with her statement. I absolutely agree that Obama lacks the neccessary experience. I like Obama and have liked him from the beginning....I just don't think he is ready yet. I have always hoped for a Clinton/Obama ticket.

28. That was perhaps the most rediculous come back of the season... |
|
I think it shows that they realized in retrospect that they went perhaps a bit too far. Again, I get that people get all excited in an election, but they really should sort of come out and just clear this up.
Saying that Obama isn't qualified now, but will be by the convention, so its cool to make him VP is just silly. Truly silly.

and I believe that's what she meant, but when you're communicating and you say something positive about one person and something negative about another it's no surprise that people are interpreting it that way. That's the emotional response, but if you dig deeper, it's also a pretty unconventional strategy, with no tangible gain for Hillary. It only serves to piss off supporters of Obama - which she may need in the GE, but by being so gracious to McCain at Obama's expense, she's sending a message that she's not really looking for that kind of support. I don't think ANY dem can afford to have a dismissive attitude like that towards half our voting base.

19. I'm not arguing that she thinks McCain is going to take the country in the wrong direction...but... |
|
you are agreeing that she said that she and McCain are qualified to be Commander in Chief and Obama isn't. Whether or not Hillary thinks McCain will take the country in the wrong direction, that's still quite a statement to say that there are only two qualified potential Commander's in Chief out of the three candidates, when chances are high that Obama will be the Democratic candidate.
Looking through the comments here, minus the asinine "you're an idiot spreading lies while listening to republicans" comments, its pretty clear that a good percentage of Hillary supporters agree with this.
So again, if the choice is between someone qualified to be commander in chief, but who we believe going to take the country in the wrong direction, versus someone that some people in our party claim is not qualified to be commander in chief, who should the country be picking?
This, I think, would be a very bad place for the democratic party to be in.
And incidentally, outside of George H. W. Bush, but Clinton AND Obama have far more experience to be Commander in chief than 4 of the last 5 presidents, including W Bush, Bill Clinton, Reagan and Carter. So not only is this a destructive argument in my mind, its also faulty.

23. Saying someone has experience versus saying someone is unqualified... |
|
is pretty different.
I absolutely get that she's not endorsing McCain if Obama is nominated, but stating that Obama isn't qualified then sets up a situation where folks are choosing between a qualified candidate who will take the country in the wrong direction and an unqualified candidate who might be good. This is NOT the race we want to be setting up.
