Obama should not be suckered into going negative.
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 11:39 AM by kentuck
His appeal is that he is not like the other politicians. Whether that is true or not, it has been the perception.

He needs to stay above the negative politics as much as possible. His message of change and of uniting the country is a winning message. There is no need for him to panic. So long as he maintains a positive image and lets the "other" poltiticians do their usual negative stuff, he will win. That does not mean he should not set the record straight on incorrect or negative information. However, he should not feel the need to retaliate in kind.

Not only will this strategy work against Hillary, but it will work against McCain as well. If the people are truly looking for change, then he cannot become like them. When something is not broken, there is no need to fix it.

1. Until last week I believed that he had to fight fire with fire...
But seeing how Clinton has left the Democratic party, I believe he doesn't have to change anything or go negative.

Hillary has jumped the shark.

Or I should say Zellary Clieberton.

4. I think you're right
At first I thought that he had to take the gloves off and really pound HRC into the ground, but it looks like I was wrong about that. I think that HRC's whole strategy is to goad Obama into going negative, so that she can muddy up the distinction between the two of them. But he's not taking the bait, and this seems righter and righter every day.
