Chuck Todd: Obama ahead of Clinton in delegates from JUST primary states...

Obama's lead in states that held primaries:

1088 to 1074

Obama' lead in states that held caucuses:

290 to 149

Clearly... caucuses have been better than primaries for Obama.... but even when JUST primaries are counted, Obama STILL has the delegate lead...however small.

2. Watch the rationalizations pour in
for how 1074 is a higher number than 1088.

9. nah - but do not mention the overallocation of delegates to loyal in the past areas - like AA areas
and don't mention vote totals.

3. B-but, those primary states were too small! Too black! Too red!
The fact they didn't vote for Hillary clearly shows that something undemocratic is going on there!

7. But somehow Hillary will still try to spin this

Obama is going to be the nominee. Hillary should drop out
for the good of the party.

10. And there's not way she can overcome his numbers with the few contests left.
#1 in popular votes (more than 600,000)
#1 in pledged delegates (approaching 150 more)
#1 in number of states won (more than twice)
#1 in caucuses held

And now you report here that Obama is also:

#1 in primary contests

11. Notch one more media spin victory for the Clinton campaign
The mere fact that such a distinction is being discussed indicates that the Clinton campaign's denigration of caucuses has been successful. They're one step closer to overriding Obama's pledged delegate majority.

Which, of course, will be supremely ironic.... since they're arguing that primaries are more democratic in order to leverage the most undemocratic aspect of the primary process, the superdelegates, to override Obama's pledged delegate majority.

18. Exactly! Caucuses are obviously FAR more democratic than superdelegates. (except under HRC logic)

20. But the election isn't close to over. States still to come:
Pennsylvania
Guam
North Carolina
Indiana
West Virginia
Kentucky
Oregon
Montana
South Dakota
Puerto Rico

Probably Michigan and Florida. Oh and Hillary already won Florida by 17 points (I know, poor Barack wasn't allowed to outspend her by 5 to 1).

When all is said and done Hillary will have more pledged delegates from primaries.

Steve

26. No... she really won't.....

She'll have gains in PA, WV, and KY...

He'll have gains in NC, OR, SD, MT, IN

Guam and PR are too close to call.

If MI and FL revote.... he'll have gains in MI, she'll have gains in FL.

In the end, he'll STILL have more pledged delegates from Primaries.

pledged delegates from primaries.

22. It does not matter how often we post this stuff.
I posted the primary vs caucus numbers last week in response to a thread about Obama's unfair caucus advantage. I still see people saying he has lost primaries. A thread the other day stated "OBAMA HAS YET TO WIN A CLOSED PRIMARY". But Obama has won more closed primaries than Clinton has (5-4). They believe if they keep repeating the lies that people will just accept them as truth, and I think they may be correct. Not that I believe we should leave the false assertions unchallenged, but I believe that alone is not enough. We need to be more proactive in stating just how substantial Obama's lead really is.
