3. In case it becomes pertinent: Succession In New York State
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 02:00 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Succession In New York State
10 Mar 2008 02:33 pm

If Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D) resigns, Lt. Gov. David A. Paterson (also a Clinton supporter), will take his place. If he, for some reason, decides not to accept the promotion, the president of the state senate pro tempore, who also happens to be the majority leader, Joseph Bruno, will become governor. He is, of course, Spitzer's arch-enemy.

"The man described as Client 9 in court papers arranged to meet with a prostitute who was part of the ring, Emperors Club VIP, on the night of Feb. 13. Mr. Spitzer traveled to Washington that evening, according to a person told of his travel arrangements.

The affidavit says that Client 9 met with the woman in hotel room 871 but does not identify the hotel. Mr. Spitzer stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington on Feb. 13, according to a source who was told of his travel arrangements. Room 871 at the Mayflower Hotel that evening was registered under the another name.

And I'm amazed that the whore media would go so far as to label it as involvement in a prostitution ring... as that implies MUCH more than just solicitation.

I wish he wouldn't step down, if all this fucking brouhaha is JUST for seeing a prostitute. Fuck. NOW I'm pissed.

Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 02:22 PM by andym
His apparent integrity is demonstrated by his great work as NY attorney general, rooting out corporate corruption and appearing as clean as a whistle. Almost Elliot Ness-like.

I was hoping he would be a Teddy Roosevelt like reformer/trust buster.

His politics have less to do with his reputation for integrity.

And could do jail time unless he has a plea bargain.

I'm just telling you what I hear on the news. So they are the ones who are wrong. Al D'Amato says he will be sworn in by the end of the day...if not already. Gretta says his name wasn't on the list of those indited. Sounds like a plea bargain has been done.

Breaking... he has to make a notarized letter of resignation before Patterson can be sworn in and become Governor.

57. he should resign. He is a freaking hypocrite
who prosecuted prostitution rings:

"Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“”This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. ”It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”"
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/10/nyregion/10cnd-spitzer.html?bl&ex=1205294400&en=23ba9f83b5ade3e6&ei=5087%0A

He should resign and prostitution should be legalized. I am tired of nanny-state warriors making careers out of sticking their noses into other people's private affairs.
