BushCo tries to paint Kerry as racist!!!
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 02:22 PM by Postmanx
It's starting...

CNN

---snip---

While Democrats have long claimed to be the party of greater inclusiveness, this year President Bush may argue that his administration is more diverse at senior levels than John Kerry's would be.

Unlike Al Gore whose campaign manager, political director and finance director were African-American, the Kerry campaign, as of yet, has no one of color in the innermost circle, including Kerry's campaign manager, campaign chairperson, media adviser, policy director, foreign policy adviser, general election manager, convention planner, national finance chairman, and head of VP search team.

Though Kerry could claim that a campaign team and administration are two different things, that kind of defense might not wash with voters.

1. I'm a Kerry supporter and frankly
this report is dead accurate. Kerry needs to be more inclusive in his campaign staff and government. I don't see this article as a smear but more of a warning to the Kerry campaign that the smears are coming if he doesn't take steps to rectify the issue soon.

3. Kerry is plenty inclusive
One of the things that was striking throughout the primary season was how well Kerry did among minority voters, particularly African Americans. In the South, especially, Kerry would frequently win overwhelming support from the Af-Am community, even as Clark and Edwards won the white vote.

4. His policies are inclusive yes
and his support spans all ethnic and minority groups yes, but his campaign staff is not very inclusive at all. As a leader he should be including other leaders from minority groups in his staff as well. While Bush seems to rely on his staff to the absolute extreme (I'd be surprised if he has made a single unilateral decision in his entire residency), there is something to be said for relying on staff in matters that you personally are less capable in.

While Kerry has done a great job over the course of his political career in properly representing minority groups, it would behoove him to have more members of minority groups represented within his campaign and government.

8. yes
minorities and women came out in big numbers for him. other than south carolina (where kerry and edwards tied in minority votes) which was edwards birth state, the rest of the states had kerry winning by a very large amount. it's why news declared kerry winner in wisconsin even while the results coming in were close. the areas with minority voters had kerry ahead by a very large amount.

and while it's good to have diversity at the top levels as much as one can. it's not as important as providing things such as good jobs, education ,health care etc for all, especially minorities who lack it the most. whatever minority appointments bush makes does not make up for him appointing people like judge pickering and trying to get rid of affirmative action (especially around the time of martin luther kings birthday) which hurts many minorities. kerry is the one who talks about the large number of young black men without jobs all the while they are overrepresented in the military when compared to their population in america.kerry recognizes this injustice.

10. They're just hoping he takes on Donna Brazile
who would then proceed to do for Kerry what she did for President Gore.

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is expected to name two Midwestern Members of Congress to senior level posts at the Democratic National Committee in the coming days to help him raise money and amplify his message on the campaign trail.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) are negotiating specific roles and titles with Kerry’s presidential campaign staff, four well-placed Democratic sources confirmed late Wednesday afternoon.

What's next? Kerry doesn't have enough ferret owners on his team? </sarcasm>
