There's no way to avoid or rationalize it at this point. |
|
The Clinton campaign clearly plays the race card when it's convenient and beneficial for them to do so.
I gave them a pass after South Carolina, thinking there was a chance the media was just blowing it all out of proportion.
The Ferraro fiasco is the latest contribution to an obvious pattern of the Clintons and their cohorts attempting to diminish Obama's candidacy in a manner that is the political equivalent of pointing at him and shouting "Hey everybody, don't forget he's a black guy!"
It's not just dirty, it's unDemocratic. We can only hope it backfires in PA, but should she win by any margin, I hope she still faces increased pressure to step aside.

1. Funny, I see it the opposite way. The Obama campaign managed to paint |
|
Hillary as a racist right before each primary.
Tell me, deep in your heart, do you believe that Hillary Clinton is a racist?

6. No, I don't believe she is a racist. |
|
But I do believe that she will use everything in the Rovian playbook up to and including race baiting and xenophobia to win.
She has no real moral compass and her only objective is to gain power for herself.

You all are acting worse than anything you accuse Clinton of.
And I have news, it doesn't reflect very positively on your candidate.

12. Alright, name 3 instances of this besides South Carolina (which is a debate unto itself, perhaps) |
|
I'd love to see you try to back this up.
(As for South Carolina, I think much of the outrage came from citizenry and non-campaign related people. I don't believe anyone in Obama's campaign mentioned racism).

I think this is only my first or second post in GDP. I honestly debated whom to vote for, even up until a few days before my state's primary. I think I gave them both a fair shake. I voted Obama, with reservations and with no real ill will felt towards Hillary.
I do not think Clinton is a racist, but she has shown a willingness to stoop to the level of bigots to pick up a few votes. As much as I think a Clinton presidency would be a net good for the country, her campaign has been a net bad for our country and for our party.

Virulent (I hate groupX, they smell bad, they're inferior, the're parasites, they're destroying our culture)
Complicit (I have nothing agaist groupX personally, but I'm happy to pay them less because discrimination puts them in a hard spot (happens to women too), laugh at or even make a joke about them in order to have fun with other non groupXers, use their status as a tool against them when in competition, willing to support the confiscation of their property because I can benefit (see Germany))
While I have nothing to indicate that that Hillary Clinton is Virulent, there is a massive body of evidence mouting that points to her being a complicit racist.

28. No I don't, but her supporters are making it difficult.. |
|
I have seen 3 posts today on Obama being a Muslim.. On Fucking DU. Oh wait, they didn't exactly say that, they said "his father is Muslim, his grandfather was Muslim, just sayin". That's what Obama supporters are talking about. Then when one of us has the audacity to claim that's race or religion baiting, we are told "but it's the truth". When Hillary made her McCain statement, we were told "but it's the truth, she's just stating the facts" When we saw the 3am ad we were told, "that's how the grown-ups play politics". When Ferraro made her comments we were told "nothing wrong with saying he's black" Which is true there is nothing wrong with that. But when she said "he's only in the position he's in because he's a black man", then I have a bit of a problem with it. I have learned in my one week as an Obama supporter that anything Hillary says is ok, it's "grown-up" politics. Well, let the grown ups play their little games, the youth is coming up fast and they are going to stomp all over the status quo. I wish John Lennon were alive to see this.

This isn't the first time, the second time, nor the last time we'll be seeing this - I'm sure. As evident by Clinton's refusal to immediately remove her. They have a serious problem, and I have a feeling - it's going to come to an ugly end.

it hurts each of us when she uses these kinds of tactics. but it's win at all costs and if the cost is our winning the 2008 GE, then she'll do it to position herself for 2012. She's beneath contempt at this point.
