A question I would like to see Obama answer |
|
Using the current SCOTUS members...if you had to choose someone to fill an opening, which particular justice would you use as a model for your nomination?

Has HRC said anything about who she would fill a spot with?
I would like to hear that from both O and HRC, if this has been covered then I mised it.

Nobody is going to ask an IMPORTANT question when boxers or briefs hasn't been answered to the satisfaction of the public yet.

3. It's a pretty sure bet Clinton would use Ginsburg as an example. |
|
Obama would decline to answer.

15. He already has: "Obama says he would look into Court nominees’ hearts " |
|
"The sentiment sounded similar to President Bush’s evaluation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Upon meeting Putin for the first time in 2001, Bush said he “looked the man in the eye” and “was able to get a sense of his soul.” http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/obama-says-he-would-look-into-court-nominees-hearts-2007-07-18.htmlOh, BTW, FU too. :hi:

They were more liberal than anyone currently on the court.

7. I asked about the current members |
|
I really don't know many Democrats who wouldn't vote for either of them so that is basically a stock answer. I want a real answer.

6. Obama knows the Constitution and its history. He taught Con Law. |
|
I think that would be a wonderful question to have Obama answer because I think it would offer a very real insight into how he views the Constitution after all the time he's spent immersed in it. Obama taught Con law, I bet he's gonna be pretty picky about who he'll put forth as a SCOTUS appointment as a result.
I'd be even more happy if Hil would just turn over her tax records, however...

8. Personally that is just YOU being petty |
|
Whether Hillary turned over her tax records would not benefit me or my kids in the least. However...who she or he nominated to the SCOTUS will.
I prefer real issues. But nice try at diverting this conversation.

17. Questions I want to see answered... |
|
Is it REALLY petty to wonder what the big deal is about those tax records when it has been a MATTER OF COURSE for candidates to open those up for inspection in past primaries?
Call me petty if you feel the need, but I am seriously bugged by this. As a local public official (in what is regarded by some at DU as one of the most corrupt states in the union!) I am required to file specific forms regarding my economic interests annually. She is running for President--you'd THINK this would not be a shock to her that this stuff is gonna be vetted.

The republicans aren't scared of the Congressional dems like Congressional dems are of republicans. They could turn things into a circus. And you are correct in that this wasn't the question you asked. Do you think there is some sort of risk on Obama with court appointments since you asked the question?

28. because the obama supporters are telling the Hillary supporters |
|
that if he wins they should vote for him because they needed to keep their "eye on the prize"...in other words...the SCOTUS. I'd REALLY like to know that HIS eye is on the prize because honestly I don't feel that comfortable that it is...a little ideological insight would be nice.

Pg. 82. If he is the nominee his appointments would still be far better than John W. McCain's but if you are voting based on the SCOTUS vote for Hillary.

Since he was appointed by a rethug it worked out for us. What if Obama, in his fetish for bipartisanship, gives us a Democratic version of Souter who winds up being another Roberts?

We don't need mental gymnastics to stretch Obama into what you "hope" he is. He said it himself.
