Sadly, I have gone from extreme optimism to extreme pessimism about the general election.
I pray to god I am wrong, but if DU is even a poor reflection of the general populace, then we are so screwed.

Racism, sexism, religion baiting, playing the victim, charges of homophobia, homophobia, scandal smears, mudslinging....

And this isn't from just a couple of a talking heads on the tube and a bunch of anonymous idiots on a message board.

This is from the campaigns all the way down to the general population.

I've heard it said that getting democrats together is like herding cats and NEVER have I believed that was true.

Now, I'm just not so sure. I certainly have no intention of being a republican, but each day that passes I am becoming ashamed of being a democrat.

How the hell can otherwise reasonable people suddenly be at each other's throats when we have such a historic and unprecedented election season. Here we are, with anti-republican sentiment running at the highest level since the Great Depression and two candidates who if EITHER wins will be the person who breaks up a record of 43 white men in a row.

And what are we doing with that? We are pissing it away!

Shame on us all.

I really believed we were better than that.

I guess idealism has no place in our culture and I'd like to thank everyone, including myself, for driving a stake through the heart of what we could have been.

12. Hillary will come around.
You won't believe how glowing she'll be in her support of Obama in a few months. As will her supporters.

2. I feel the same way
I'd like to see some exit poll results from Pennyslvania, but I fear this party has reached a point of no return with its divisiveness over the past few days and weeks.

4. But you've been treated so respectfully when you deviate from the party line
doesn't that give you hope?

(sarcasm)

6. LOL
Yeah, some of the Obama supporters have been getting on me about that, but oh well. I tell the truth even if it is unpleasant to Obama supporters at times.

Over the past few primaries, we have seen a sentiment from exit polls that each candidate's supporters would be happy with the other candidate. The results from Mississippi are very unencouraging. I worry we have met the breaking point where all of this record turnout means nothing because the party is permanently divided for this election cycle and we can do nothing to change it.

7. That is my worry as well.
The hardest feelings are often between siblings and to some extent, I feel that is what we are.

8. Look at the turnout in Miss
it's not very heavy. That in itself is discouraging because the negative tenor from both sides might be starting to turn people off.

13. Well there's one thing that could possibly change it (either a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton
ticket) but Nancy says that's off the table.

9. DU is a very specific slice of the electorate that does NOT reflect the whole.
It's primary season and DU loves a good drama!

I keep envisioning a L A N D S L I D E for the Dems....no matter who is the nominee.

Keep the faith. Here, have a cupcake. :D
