Awwww. My heart bleeds for poor Ralph....

Not only is he pathetic, but then he has the gall to pretend it was all a joke. Funny, Ralph, real funny. Just like throwing elections to right wing pieces of shit...

Sorry Ralph. Michael Moore has learned the bitter lessons. Unfortunately, you haven't

16. Nader opposed Bush before the dems had the balls to
while gore was busy shoving his nose up dumbya's ass and giving that blank check of support-speech "GWB is my commander in chief"

i undestand bashing ralph and where you're coming from, but to call him a republican is just dishonest.

14. Be fair to Moore
Right before the election in 2000, Moore made an appeal for people to not vote for Nader if they were in a state that would be close.

he has repeated often that Nader decieved him by campaigning in swing states.

I actually believe Moore wanted to build a viable third party. It's obvious though that Nader OTOH, doesn't care about building anything, considering he's not even running as a green.

The way I see it, is if someone is soooo disgusted by Kerry that you can't vote for him (I personally think it's whiny behavior and that Kerry isn't a bad candidate), you should atleast vote green, because you are building SOMETHING. Nader is there to fuck things up. That's it.

23. No he didn't
Go to his website and look at his archives. Start with this letter he wrote on election morning....

http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php?messageDate=2000-11-07

Moore may try to rehabiliate himself in his book, but he clearly did not speak out against Nader's strategy when it counted.

25. My point was contained in that letter
Moore was appealing to people who were not in competitive states to vote for Nader, but he accepted that people in close states might want to vote for Gore instead. Nader's strategy was to influence election by taking votes away from Gore in close states, enough for Gore to lose. Moore supported Nader, but he did not support Nader's strategy.

From www.michaelmoore.com:

"I know many of you in the "swing states" feel a need to vote for Gore to stop Bush. As I've said before, I respect your decision. But that also means if you live in the 37 other states where the outcome appears to be a foregone conclusion, then why not use your vote like a political Molotov and vote for Nader? A vote for Gore in Mississippi IS a wasted vote! As it is in Texas, most of the Deep South, the plains states and the Rocky Mountain region. Bush is way, way ahead in these states. Your vote for Gore there will get ZERO votes in the Electoral College, but in the popular vote for Nader it could make a HUGE difference. The same is true in the states where Gore is far ahead like New York and Massachusetts. A vote for Nader there is a vote that will be counted in a very loud way. You can literally make history."

The lobster didn't cause Bush to get into office.

21. One liberal liability courts another
Perhaps we should encourage Michael Moore to back Ralph? Nader is a perfect candidate for Michael "Preach-to-the-Converted" Moore.

24. The converted??
The converted are the folks who kept his book at the top of the bestseller list all last year? And made his movie the most successful documentary in American history? And continue to keep his new book on the bestseller list? That's a heck of a lot of converted.

I think Michael Moore's message has reached a lot of ears who wouldn't otherwise hear progressive ideas. I have heard a lot of folks say that he introduced them to the idea that the Bushies are a bunch of liars.

And next time you want to trash on someone who constantly busts his ass for progressive causes, ask yourself what the hell *you* have done for us lately.

26. Perhaps i'm a little hard on Moore
I guess I have never forgiven him for that self-indulgent movie about his book tour where he berates small-time employees and then cozies up to Phil Knight.

Or his attempt at being kingmaker by supporting Will Clark, a weak and not-especially-progressive candidate.

Or his stealing the spotlight from the true documentarians (not propagandists) at the Oscars. That was a "preach to the converted" speech if ever there was one.

I do think that his books and movies mostly stir up the indignation of the converted. We should be glad there are so many.

As for trashing someone, what about Nader? Less of a sacred cow than Moore? That doesn't seem right.
