Geraldine Ferraro defends Obama's Patriotism against Rethugs

I think it's important to bring up that Geraldine did on a prior occasion vigorously defend Obama's patriotism against a Rethug onslought on Hannity & Colmes. Here is the video:

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/faux-news-discusses-obamas-lapel-pin/1100467801

Personally, I think her statement was taken out of context. The fact of the matter is we ARE focused on the possibility of the 1st women president or African American president. It's not the only thing that matters to voters/media, but to deny this is not a strong factor I think is disengenuous. Personally, I think it's a good thing even though my candidate (Edwards) got shut out by the media due to their focusing on Hillary and Obama. Also I think that to cry racism RE: Geraldine's remarks deginerates true racism.

I hope people on both sides can stop taking things out of context and stop throwing hate across the aisle. Whether it be Obama supporters RE: Geraldine or the Hillary supporters RE: Enthusiasm of young voters. It's neither constructive or unifying.

In the event that you can not, I think we should all seriously consider supporting Gore as a compromise candidate (who if you'll notice I just changed my screen-name to, to garner support for)

Flame Away!

11. She deserves none.
She shit in the well, but sprayed some perfume for good measure. I'm not impressed.

4. I don't think she's a racist, either.
Ideally, she wouldn't be pretending to know what would have happened if Obama weren't black. No one knows.

But bad judgement isn't the same as racism.

5. The fact that she's so upset and willing to fight back does lead me to believe that her comments
have been misconstrued.

9. Geraldine has never been a racist.
I don't know what prompted her remarks, but I do think that Obama after having been only 2 years in the senate and 1 year running for president is not deserving of the presidency and I don't care if the guy is black or purple.

10. I don't think she is a racist, but I am offended by her statement
And it's patently untrue. I took a look at the exit polls this morning, and Clinton has gotten an average of a five-point boost from people who say gender is a factor. Among people who say race is a factor, Obama loses as many votes as he gains. Obviously, these figures are self-reporting so they probably don't encompass everyone, since a lot of people won't admit that race or gender played a factor. But I think Clinton has benefited at least as much if not more from being a woman as Obama has from being black. If the nomination were a job you apply for with a resume, wouldn't Richardson or Biden or Dodd have gotten it?

12. Obama has benefited far more.
Women are not voting for Hillary at a rate of 8 or 9 out of 10 like blacks have consistently done since SC.
