Poll question: POLL: Bush vs. Kerry
There has been some discussion here about whether or not this or that methodology gives this or that poll a certain lean. My response to this is - let's create one where the methodology is transparent to us, so we know that it's fair, and we can compare the results to other popular polls such as Gallup, Rasmussen, and Zogby.

Here is our DU election poll:

If the election were to be held tomorrow, which candidate would you vote for?

3. DU will only let you vote once.
So there's nothing to worry about as far as ballot stuffing.

(See? Because we know how the polling works, we know that it's fair.)

4. As usual, tomorrow gets too much publicity
Why are pollsters so creatively challenged in regard to the calendar? I want to know about Friday's election, or two weeks from Sunday.

This really ticks me off: a three-day sample in which they use the "tomorrow" question each of the three days. Obviously that's not even asking about the same election, yet they bunch the responses together and blurt out one misleading result.

I'm holding out on this DU poll, claiming the senatorial VP role in case of a tie.

5. Understood.
But as we are comparing our poll to the others, we may have to do some things which we don't understand.

6. Morning update: 98% Kerry, 2% Bush
John F. Kerry seems to have pulled far out of the margin of error for this poll, though I only have a margin of error size for samples as low as 60 participants, so I cannot say for sure:

Also, please keep in mind that the single vote for George W. Bush in this poll may translate to a selection of George W. Bush or Ralph Nader on the actual ballot.

10. I believe these could also indicate Ralph Nader on the actual ballot.
This is because a vote for Ralph Nader is a vote for George W. Bush.

11. Wouldn't it be funny...
to spill this poll into the media? Most people don't understand the concept of Scientific Sampling.

13. Interesting
Hi all I have never posted here before. I'm 18 and have the wonderful opportunity of voting this year.

The first thing that caught my attention, when simply overlooking the many thoughtful points of view here, was this very poll. I find it quite interesting that a poll was taken here at democratic underground concerning the election, and a democratic candidate Vs. a republican candidate. HHMmm I wonder who will get the most votes here on this DEMOCRATIC underground board.

Just out of curiosity does anyone here honestly think Kerry is best for this position, I mean I personally kind of hoped for someone a little more enthusiastic, and being apart of American youth he just doesn't really reach out and grab my attention. Maybe he will in the future, at least I hope so.
