MTP in Mountain Time Zone |
|
Meet the Press just concluded in Denver.
Kerry did an outstanding job. At Bush campaign headquarters they have got to be nearly paralysed with trepidation about any Kerry-Bush debate.
The thing is, I don't agree with Kerry on Cuba or on Palestine-Israel. But appearences on shows like MTP are not so much about spcific issues but how these folks handle themselves. On this point Kerry easily outscores Bush.
JFK is just so far above Bush on an intellectual and experience level. Kerry has a sense of history, he has a sense of diplomacy, he can engage in a conversation.
And that is why Kerry on MTP has done himself a tremendous amount of good ... He showed that he is capable of being president. He has the temperment for the job. He has a steadiness of character that will make average Americans comfortable with him as their leader.
In my opinion, together with all the other news of the day (and if Bush doesn't cheat again), I predict that Kerry will win with an electoral college vote of well over 300.

1. Hi, Fellow MT zoner.....Whatever my misgivings about |
|
Kerry, from the outset, even before he announced he was running, I always have given him credit for one thing...his abilities in a sit-down interview. I will always remember how he managed to put Bill O'Reilly into pussycat mode.
My suggestion to the campaign: to offset those awful news clips of him speaking before audiences....where he goes into drone syndrome....
Put together various clips of him in sitdown inteview situations, talking in conversation. That is his strong suit...use it. Over and over, until people are conditioned to seeing someone speaking well in contrast the idiot in the WH.

2. Kerry is weakest when he's giving speeches, as the drone factor sets in. |
|
But, even in public forums, when he answers questions and speaks off the cuff, he is absolutely brilliant.
Bush, on the other hand,...uh...er...ahhh...um...the Iraqi people...uuuuhh...th..th..the..,well, I uh...
