Hillary's "foreign policy experience": Somalia, Afghanistan Stew, allowing Russia to flail
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 09:09 AM by polticalpout
I like Bill Clinton but I find it laughable that people here want to give Hillary credit for having foreign policy experience because she was the first lady. It's funny because if we are honest Bill's foreign policy wasn't that great. Sure he looks like a god compared to Dubya but so would a monkey. Under Clinton, The Mideast peace talks failed, his Somalian action was a disaster, millions died in Rwanda, The Afghanistan mess Reagan and Bush 1 created was allowed to continue to stew unabated and deteriorate, and a young Russian democracy struggled and flail without much support from the U.S. which led to it's people to elect hardliner Putin. The fact is Bill Clinton did not have a great foreign policy. Given this, "Hillary's experience" is nothing to brag about but is something to push under the covers.

1. Really?
I'm halfway into writing my screenplay for the remake of Black Hawk Down - except in my version Hillary leads the ground mission.

2. Clinton was the only president to lead us to victory in a war without losing a single life.
Clinton boldly intervened in Kosovo to stop the genocide, even though all the Republicans, most of the press (and I suspect about half the 'Obama supporters' here) fought him tooth and nail, attributed his actions to 'wag the dog' and did about everything else they could think of to screw him up.

But he won that war anyway -- ended the ethnic cleansing, restored stability, and brought a war criminal to trial -- all in record time. Most important, he did so by employing a shrewd strategy that kept our armed forces from losing a single American life.

Clinton balanced budgets, created jobs, produced surpluses, and even won a whole war withou losing a life.

This is the same man who says Hillary will be a better president than he was. I see no reason not to believe him.
