I think both candidates should stop the "gotcha" politics. |
|
Your surrogate said this. He needs to be fired. Your surrogate said that. She needs to be fired. It's taking away from the real issues. The MSM LOVES it. They have something to rant about 24/7 to fill their programs. I wish both would stop it.

14. Sorry but reaction time feeds it. The faster it's closed, the faster it goes away. |

Hillary saying she 'regrets' it and yet allowing that woman to go around and continue the clowning... how can you think that's the same at all?

6. What an incredible double standard, now that the shoe is on the other foot. |

Here's my poll yesterday to see how the DU community perceived the two campaign surrogate kerfuffles of the last week. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5024319That spread is too wide to be a Clinton vs. Obama issue.

20. as an Obama supporter, I would love for both of them to stop |
|
For two reasons. Firstly, calling people monsters or playing race cards isn't going to bring the cost of housing down, or get us out of this war. Secondly, I think that politically it is best for Obama to stop negative campaigning. Since Obama is in the lead the only way for Clinton to get back in the game is to slow down his momentum. If Obama doesn't need to spend time deflecting Clinton attacks he can just be the shining beacon of hope that he's hanging his campaign on.

A) many people agree Clinton has been acting like a monster, and it has nothing to do with her gender B) Power resigned
What Ferraro said was beyond outrageous and she has a history of racist remarks. What's preventing Clinton from getting rid of her, unless she tacitly agrees? Her inaction implies that.

from Clinton or Obama. I wish they would both stop. Really, you Obama supporters are so defensive. If you think Obama is only 1% then I want him to stop his 1% and Hillary stop whatever percentage you think she is involved in. Sheesh.

|
Nice.
Look... if you'd posted this at a time when it wasn't Ferraro nearly single-handedly fueling the 24/7 frenzy, you wouldn't be getting this reaction.
But the fact is that right now, that's what's going on, and unlike with the "Monster" situation, it's not being addressed in a way that makes it go away.
Please don't be surprised when people react based on current events.

I'm not surprised to the reaction. Nothing can be said here that doesn't bring on the rage of "the Obama supporters". It's never the right time, it's never the right time. I get it.

I'm sorry if you can't see why it is offensive on its face.
p.s. Care to address my points regarding the effect the campaigns' responses has on the feeding frenzy?

17. Exactly. What's preventing Clinton from getting rid of her? |
|
The double standard.
When Obama's surrogate says something uncool, Clinton demands her to commit hara-kiri. When Clinton's surrogate says something uncool, she responds with "both of us have had supporters and staff members who've gone over the line and we have to reign them in and try to keep this on the issues. There are big differences between us on the issues — let's stay focused on that."

for 90% of the ugliness and distractions. When Obama's campaign staff screws up, they apologize and leave, and it's over.

it's always said by the CC supporters and surrogates here how Obama is "just as guilty" but we can go through the lists in a thread and compare-I saw Samantha Power and not much else from the Obama side compared to what the CC has said and done-the list is extensive

The only question is whether or not you choose to be honest or choose to lie about it.
You can list every horrible foul you feel the Obama campaign has committed in the last month and during that same time frame the list from the failing Clinton campaign would be three times as long. That's because that is the active strategy - throw dirt in the eye, scorch the earth, desperately say and do anything to try to disrupt an Obama nomination which he has already all but secured.

Here are the first big stories/attacks that come to mind and see who's been responsible.
3 a.m. phone call - Clinton Clinton/McCain's Lifetimes of experience vs. Obama's speech in 2002 - Clinton Clinton is a monster - Obama Obama's Iraq withdrawal strategy - Clinton Obama wouldn't be in this position if he were white - Clinton.
By my count that is 4-1 against Clinton. BTW, the one for Obama was swiftly repudiated by his campaign. Please feel free to add to my incomplete list.

maybe not.
Yesterday and the day before were toxic, coming from both campaigns. I couldn't hardly find a passage from each which wasn't a lead in to an attack on the other.

After Clinton wins Pennsylvania with the words of GF and the 3 AM ad in the minds of all the voters there I'm sure you'd love it if Obama doesn't defend himself.
Wow, reminds me of the 'Shame on you' moment in Ohio. Guess it works.
