Can someone help me out here? |
|
I don't want this to devolve into a he said she said battle between the Hillary folks and the Obama folks, but I have a question I'd like some Hillary supporters to answer.
I'd especially like dues paying union supporters of Hillary to chime in.
The question is: How on earth are union workers backing the Clinton's after the devastating effect their first 8 years had on union members? Is it simply because you think she can win? Is it because Obama won't smile and take your money? (As every Dem politician in my lifetime has, but rarely do anything for unions) Have you forgotten NAFTA? Have you forgotten (or did you not know) that good paying union jobs evaporated from the US in the 90s at roughly the same pace as the 00s?
I'm serious about this, most union folks I know backed Edwards, then switched to Hillary, but aren't too clear in their reasons why when I ask them. I can understand my non-union friends who are in the upper middle class why they might swing for Clinton, thinking that the glory days of 42% quarterly returns on their portfolios might come around again. (Unlikely as it is, nothing says Hillary is more able to bring that back than Obama)
Thanks J_M

1. I'm not a union member, but I am really baffled by that |
|
The Clintons perpetuated and endorsed the policies that are screwing union members and the working classes today.
It's not only Bush's fault. The chickens are coming home to roost from the 90's.

2. One of my union friends pointed out the Obama/NAFTA issue. |
|
After I linked him to the truth about the Canadian gaffe, he now says he is considering Obama.
