someone with far more experience than Edwards for his running mate.

3. I could see it if Edwards would come out and SAY SOMETHING. It'd be a good ticket, my only |
|
reservation is I'd still like to see somebody like Biden with extensive FP experience.

Foreign policy, national security weight is what will be needed. Edwards offers none of that.

10. Biden would be a great balance to the ticket. |
|
From what I understand, they're friends.
But we'd have two senate seats to fill.

8. John Edwards deserves a cabinet spot |

rather than the near-irrelevancy of VP.
I think Secretary of Labor might fit him better.

Besides that, he had an opportunity to endorse either candidate and chose not to.

I will take a pass.
He has so much more to offer our country than this. I think Attorney General, Secretary of Labor or something with some substance to it is more in order.

21. As an Edwards supporter |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 02:55 PM by The Traveler
recently coming off the fence for Obama, may I suggest that is not the best way to go?
As is oft mentioned, Edwards has no particular street cred in defense or foreign affairs issues. I regard Biden as far too important to the senate ... and Democratic control of the Senate far too important to gamble with at this time.
Edwards as A.G. ... now, that makes sense to me. And probably strikes terror in the hearts of corrupt elites everywhere. That would give him a direct vehicle for pressuring the powerful interests he spoke so eloquently against, and sets up a perfect "good cop/bad cop" situation for the Obama administration.
For VP (I'm sure the Obama people have their own very excellent short list) I like Richardson. He's got an awesome resume, a vast range of knowledge and solid progressive credentials. And he is not a sitting Senator.

25. Yes, JRE would make an excellent AG. And I certainly agree that a VP slot would |
|
not necessarily be the best way to utilize his many talents. However, thinking in the long-term, I would love to see him as President one day soon, and as VP he would be lined up perfectly after BHO has had his 8 year run; the MSM would have a helluva time marginalizing him again from that position. Failing that, I think Biden or Richardson would both be excellent VP choices.:)

22. I am actually warming to the idea |
|
Richardson is the better choice to offset the inexperienced meme that will assuredly come. But If McCain is running to the the middle witht he hopes of putting PA, Michigan and Ohio in play we need substantial blue collar support.
I don't think Edwards buys the campaign all that much unless he can solidfy support in either a key industrial state or North Carolina. He had the right message, but I am worried that he may not have the regular joe persona to attract white ethnic voters.
Strickland might be a beeter fit for that need as might Rendell. We get a blue collar type Governor. I do not see how we get beat electorally.
