Clinton Surrogate: "Latte Drinking" "Birkenstock Wearing" "Trust Fund Babies"
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 03:03 PM by demdog78
I am sorry. I was wrong. I said that the Clinton campaign said "Latte Liberals" Clinton's surrogates didn't coin the phrase "Latte Liberal" They said much worse.

This was posted on MSNBC on FEB 20th.

From NBC's Abby Livingston
Oh snap! Who needs a Rottweiler when you’ve got surrogates?

Tom Buffenbarger president of the machinists' union (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers) was the the latest in a string of Clinton junkyard dogs unleashed upon Obama. Prior to Hillary Clinton’s speech last night in Youngstown, Ohio, Buffenbarger delivered nothing short of an Obama diatribe.

While campaign introductions typically sing the praises of the upcoming candidate, Buffenbarger's speech barely mentioned Clinton until the conclusion. It was all about Obama, and it was laced with venom and ad hominems.

Full Story (has link to LONG video 11 minutes, and comment is at end)

Video Link (just the "Latte Liberal" part.)

So, I think I have heard enough B.S. about how the Clinton campaign is the victim here, and how they never started this. That is just about enough.

6. You need to pay attention. We were discussing this earlier in here.
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 03:03 PM by demdog78
And the typical Clinton response is that her surrogates never started the "latte liberal" bullshit.

this IS where it stared.

And, it was posted on MSNBC Feb 20th. Not DU. However, if you had read it all, you would have known that.

8. Yeah, I have noticed that
I was a Dean supporter in 2004 and we got a lot of the same criticisms. Latte liberals, spoiled college kids, etc.

Next thing you know she'll be sending surrogates out bashing Roosevelt for being a liberal rich guy so lazy that people had to carry him around.

Change! Hope! Gimme a break! Did he really say that? Never mind the "latte liberal Birkenstock wearing trust fund babies" comment, the college kids will fucking destroy that argument. This moron just said that change and hope were bullshit.

Goddamn can a campaign try any harder to alienate people? Psst Hillary supporters, your candidate needs to be liked to win. Using "in the playbook" right wing smears like "latte liberal" doesn't draw Democrats to your candidacy, it draws Republicans, as you might have noticed when FUCKING ANN COULTER endorsed you yesterday.

Sometimes when we try to make one point we don't see the bigger one.

The whole thing just reeks of repukes.

10. I don't know...
that pretty well describes some (not all) of the Obama supporters I know.

I think the guy has a point - Obama isn't doing nearly as well among blue collar and lower income groups as Hillary is. And that's the swing group that keeps costing us elections. Reagan Democrats, etc.

Clinton and her campaign is what is dividing this party.

13. that's your point
it's not mine....

The party has always been divided, and pretty much along the lines this guy is pointing out. I don't see Clinton "dividing" the party anymore than Obama is.

She's playing to her strengths in places like Ohio and PA.

27. the point is that there are a lot of blue collar people
out there - and poor people - who can't afford these things - and who resent the "latte liberal" crowd for telling them what their politics should be.

Reagan exploited this very well. In fact, it's become a Republican trademark to exploit this...

Now Hillary is exploiting it - but, you know what? These ARE the people that decide elections, so I find the Obama outrage over this kind of meaningless.

24. Hillary is education bashing ...

I never understood why blue collars want their kids to go to college yet so strongly resent those who did. We have a strong progressive common interest in labor and education. I think it's disgusting that Hillary is trying to drive a wedge THROUGH HER OWN PARTY!!!
