I MIGHT get to interview John Kerry |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 06:20 PM by Hippo_Tron
I'm going with my dad to his fundraiser in New Orleans on Wednesday night and there's a slim chance I might get to interview him. Anyway, I need some ideas for questions should I get the chance. So far, I've thought of asking him something along the lines of what patriotism means to him. My other idea was to ask him something about how he feels about Ralph Nader and third party/independent voters. Other than that I can't think of many right now. So help me out DU, give me some ideas.

1. I wish I got to interview him! I have a question. |
|
It's very nuanced though. I mean, I understand that he cannot be seen as splintering away from the troops and the country on the whole war issue, as misguided as he may think it all is. But there is a large group of anti-war thinkers in the progressive ranks (I include me in this group) and I don't understand how he intends to represent us - that would be my question; how will he represent those in the Democratic party who fiercely opposed this war. I don't want my anti-war feelings marginalized, even though I appreciate that he is in a very delicate position.

2. Ask him the following.............. |
|
1. Why he looks so........ French?
2. Tell us about his Botox treatments.
3. Boxers or briefs?
Asking question like that will make the journalists from all the networks and newspapers think you just one of the girls and bring great status to you.

I'm going to see if I can think of a way to word this type of delicate question.

5. Ask him to give you one or two sentences on what he thinks each candidate |
|
brought to the table during the primary -- what Kerry thinks their lasting contribution to the dialog has been.
Give him the name of each of the democratic primary candidates. Inclued Nader. Then, as a joke throw in "Dick Cheney" and "George Bush."
Just get one or two sentences on each.

6. My predictions for some answers: |
|
Dean made it OK to bash Bush.
Edwards connected with the essence of what it means to be a democrat in post FDR America: a concern for which direction economic, cultural and political power flows in America.
Kucinich connected with the roots of what it means to be a progressive.
Sharpton: an excellent sense of humor, and the ability to epitomize in a sentence what's wrong with America.
Clark: proves that you can be both a Democrat and strong on defense and national security, and that it's OK for a man who wore a uniform to criticize the C-i-C.

7. Kerry Interview questions |
|
Great opportunity. Ask him how his platform is better or different than GW Bush's. Don't ask him his opinion on things that don't matter, like Nader. We need to know if this man feels accountable to the middle class and the poverty stricken of America. This is what a democrat should stand for. Just ask him about his platform and what he thinks of Nuclear proliferation, the Iraq Occupation in particular the recent slaughter in Fallujah up to 300 dead women and children- no they weren't resistance fighters although they have grounds to be. Ask him about the money spent in Iraq and on our defense budget. Ask him about tax cuts to the rich. Ask him about NAFTA and the WTO. Ask him why he voted to give the President the authority to declare war. Ask him why his "intelligence" was the same lies the administration put forth. Ask him if this means he will be asking Dennis Kucinich what's up because Kucinich knew there was no evidence put forth by Bush. Kerry bought it, why? Defense contractor friends?

9. Ask him if he's going to take action against Iraq-Contra! |
|
Ask him if he's going to investigate and get an accounting of the $700B bush diverted from Afghanistan to Iraq. And if some of the money that's going to the mercenaries can be diverted to help fund military families.

when he campaigns sometimes there isn't enough time to meet each person and answer all questions as he did in iowa at the town hall meetings. and this was something he was very good at. tell him to tell the people that "if" they elect him president he will come back regularly and hold town hall meetings. tell him to make it a part of his overall message and promise. not just regular press conferences where the media asks him questions, but town hall meetings where regular citizens can ask him questions. he should also do these as much as he can while on the current campaign trail.

13. Ask Him How He'll Inspire People |
|
The majority of his supporters are more anti-Bush than pro-Kerry. Ask him how and when he's going to start inspiring voters with a picture of a better America. I think so many people want John Edwards as VP because he brings a sense of vision of a better America, not just a better-than-Bush America, and this ticket sorely needs some of that. It may all be BS in the end, but Kerry will lose if he doesn't start making people want to vote for him versus just voting against Bush.
