FERRARO RESIGNS, WESLEY CLARK CALLED FOR RUSH TO RESIGN AFTER SIMILAR REMARKS IN 2003
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 05:09 PM by Dems Will Win

Shades of Rush Limbaugh resigning from the football commentary, Ferraro just resigned.

This is what the Clinton campaign is reduced to. Taking a candidate who has inspired hope and passion, and working overtime to turn him into the "black candidate" even though she has no hope of winning the nomination absent a coup by super delegate. Now there's a legacy for Clinton. Congrats to her on pulling that one off.

And it's clear as day, given their refusal to ask for Ferraro's resignation, that the Clinton campaign is as complicit and pleased with Ferraro's words as they are with her media strategy. African American blogger dnA (click on the link above) states the obvious:

If the Clinton campaign was truly embarrassed or disagreed with Ferraro's comments, they wouldn't be tossing her into the media frenzy to shout her message from the mountaintops that Barack Obama's success is due only to his blackness. And they would not be utilizing the most effective means of doing so--the Right Wing smear machine that nearly destroyed Bill Clinton's presidency.

The aim here is to evoke racial resentment on the part of white voters over issues like Affirmative Action, and cast Obama as a talentless hack who excels only because our country is held victim by political correctness. The hope is that this will drive a permanent wedge between Obama and white voters that will sway Superdelegates to ultimately go with Hillary at the convention. At worst, Obama will be so damaged in the general that he can never be a threat to their ambitions again.

I see that Ferraro just resigned the campaign so she can conveniently spew this bullshit without being directly linked to Clinton, but the two are now inseparable. The Clinton campaign didn't ask for a resignation, and they looked the other way as Ferraro ramped up the racial rhetoric for political gain.

Limbaugh said Sunday that McNabb received undeserved credit for his team's success that came from media outlets with "social concern" and "very desirous that a black quarterback do well."

McNabb, who was runner-up for the MVP award in 2000 and has led the Eagles to two straight conference title games, said Wednesday, "I'm sure he's not the only one that feels that way. But it's somewhat shocking to actually hear that on national TV." McNabb scoffed at the notion of preferential media treatment: "A free ride from the media in Philadelphia? That's a good one."

McNabb said an apology from Limbaugh "would do no good" because his comments "obviously" were premeditated.

Limbaugh was supposed to bring a buzz to Countdown, which Sunday drew about 2.1 million households, its biggest audience in seven years. And that buzz got louder: Two Democratic presidential candidates, Wesley Clark and Howard Dean, called Wednesday for ESPN to fire Limbaugh.

PLEASE RECOMMEND IF YOU DISAGREE WITH FERRARO AND RUSH LIMBAUGH ON THIS

1. It's called plausable deniability....
Dear Hillary –

I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign.

The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you.

I won't let that happen.

Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do to make this a better world for my children and grandchildren.

You have my deep admiration and respect.

Gerry

No apology, and nothing that says she will stop her remarks.

5. She's claiming she resigned so she can continue this bullshit without
getting any on Clinton. I'd say that's just wishful thinking on her part; she'd do best to shut up before she digs Hillary any deeper.

9. I really don't get her deal. I hear some saying that its tactical, a message Clinton wants out...
...but it is coming across as looney-tunes. I don't think its resonating with anyone. It's just a huge turn-off and she looks ridiculous.

I feel about her like I did about Bill Clinton awhile back.... PLEASE by all means... KEEP TALKING :)

16. It's a clumsy attempt to raise the idea of reverse discrimination, like Strom Thurmond did
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 05:01 PM by Dems Will Win
in his race ads. Working class whites they hope will blame Affirmative Action and university quotas as reverse discrimination, holding them down.

Obama has to counter with an RFK-like drive through reddest Pennsylvania and Appalachia like RFK explaining his rural economic transformation plan and his college educaiton for all plan! He also needs a SPECIAL APPALACHIAN PLAN as there as particular obstacles to economic development that need innovative ideas to address.

If he tours Appalachia in a bus like RFK with an Appalachian Plan, the press will pick up the RFK analogy and the region will experience a vast convulsion of Hope.

10. K&R

Beaten but unbowed, Geraldine Ferraro left the
Clinton campaign today to spend more time
with her family. And her pets. But no black people.

- And don't let the doorknob hit you in the ass on the way out.

11. Good riddance.
I am ashamed that I proudly voted for her when she ran with Mondale. Her bitterness boiled over to the point where she lashed out, not at the root cause of her failed campaigns, but to the easy scapegoat. Now she thinks she can let loose without abandon, essentially digging herself deeper into her grave. I hope that one day, she will come to a personal resolution and make peace with herself.

The Clinton campaign was losing this one ... although the damage to both sides is obviously done.

Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 04:50 PM by Jersey Devil
Of course, she did her job very nicely and achieved the desired result for her efforts before resigning.

And the totally innocent Hillary can say she too is repulsed, blah, blah, blah.

See how neatly a Clinton can do things? Experience does count.
