30. let's review Ferraro's comments |
|
She started out talking about the MSM. But then she took it to a whole different level. This is what she said: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she continued. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
Re-read that last sentence. "And the country is caught up in the concept." Not "the media", the "country."
She picked the words she used. I don't know how old you are. Maybe too young to have ever heard someone complaing that a black person got a job because they were black or got into college because they were black -- but that sort of attack was a common among bigots in the 70s and 80s. And Ferraro knew or should've known that her words would evoke images of exactly that sort of attack. But she said it anyway, suggesting that she either did it intentionally or is so lacking in sensitivity on the issue that she needs to shut up.
Now go study your history books.

Were I to say that Clarence Thomas would never have been made a Supreme Court justice were he not Black, that would not be a racist statement. It would be accurate political analysis.
That is to say, tokenism - the elevation of an individual into a highly visible position for the purpose of deny or obscuring the truth about systematic and institutional racism, is quite the opposite case of bigots saying that affirmative action has given Blacks or others privileges they did not earn.
The failure to make this distinction reflects a profound misunderstanding as to the reality of racism.
In practical political effect, saying that Clarence Thomas is a token is the exact opposite of staying that some individual got into college solely because of affirmative action—ergo, their color or gender.

Then it's OK in your book for Shuster to say that Hillary was "pimping" out Chelsea. Remember that when all of you accuse someone of racism when they make the slightest remark about Obama. Sexism is OK, but never question Obama or it'll be considered racist.

|
has been subjected to by the media and some others for the last year or so. The more they attack her, the more plenty of us dig in our heels. The more we make calls, the more money we send to her campaign, the more we hold fundraisers. She may lose yet, but not until we fight all the way to Puerto Rico. If the DNC doesn't like it, then too bad for them!!

23. If it is "trashing" I will be disappointed. |
|
Of course, I reject the description of all criticism of the Clinton campaign as "trashing." Certainly I'm not expecting any Hillary supporters to say, "you know, that wasn't fun to listen to, but I have to say it was pretty fair criticism and I understand why he made the points he made." Of course that's not going to happen, no matter what he said.
But for me, I want it to be substantive. I'd prefer if it wasn't just a pure rant. I'm hoping that he will carefully, articulately, and factually connect the dots of the utter TRASH the Clinton campaign and its surrogates have been dishing out.

And brave enough to say so -- well, I take that back. Jack Cafferty is speaking out against Hillary, as well. As far as TV reporters, anchors, the rest are promoting her propaganda and spin. Makes you wonder what stranglehold the Clintons have on the broadcasting media.
