Here is how to end the stalemate.
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 05:04 PM by sellitman
How about our party leaders step up to the plate and pick one of the candidates to stand behind? If Gore, Dean, Edwards, Biden & Richardson came out on the same day and stood behind either candidate tomorrow I believe it would have a huge effect. Obviously as a Obama supporter I would like them to pick my candidate but more than anything for the good of the party this nasty primary season needs to be over......YESTERDAY.

Vote & Kick if you agree.

Edited because I spell like a Repiggy.

2. What gives them the right?
What ensures that the people will follow where the leaders lead them?

3. They have the right to say who they support.
Don't they?

Wouldn't their combined recommendation be pretty powerful?

10. They could also take into account who has won more delegates, more votes, and more states.
Just a thought.

4. You know that they would be viciously attacked here on good old DU.
It would be strange to log on and see seven threads about what a horrible person Gore is. It would actually be kind of funny.

5. If it ended this thing it would be worth it.
It's not healthy anymore.

Even less so on DU.

7. It would happen for sure, though
HRC's supporters (some) are attacking every good liberal that doesn't support their selfish candidate. Boo-hoo. I'll have to watch me some of that a-hole KO tonight!

8. If Dean didn't come out but prodded the other too then it would happen.
Behind the scenes.

9. First of all, you're assuming that this is a stalemate, it isn't
Slowly, inevitably Obama is pulling away from Clinton and will, sooner or later, win this race. Tossing this to the "party elders" would not only be undemocratic, but it would return the odds back to fifty-fifty, a gift to Clinton at this point.

12. My hope is they would just stop prolonging the inevitable.
By all rights only one candidate is ahead now.

We both know who that is.

14. Really want to see an end soon?
Here's what you do. Inform everyone - I mean everyone - both front runners, the DNC, the DLC, congressional democrats, state democratic offices, local democratic offices and all your friends that you have given your last damn dime to any and every democrat this year - period end of story. Then tell them to take your name off all their mailing lists and put you on the do not call list. Dry up the money and see how fast things sort themselves out. As long as the cash cows (that's you and me kids) can still be milked the $1,000 suit and pantsuit crowd will keep smiling into the lens and talking about just how important it is to listen to the voice of the little people. When its obvious we're sick and tired of paying for their parties there will be a nearly miraculous conclusion to this silly season.

If you doubt it - you just haven't been around politics very long.

18. How about if we let this play out by the rules of the DNC?
Why are so many people in such a rush to circumvent the rules that are in place?

I have a feeling that's the only way there's going to be any finality to this.
