Who is a better role model for women: Geraldine Ferraro or Samantha Powers?
Just look at how each woman responded to the situations presented to them. Samantha Powers statement of resignation was classy and respectful, while Ferraro is still throwing out the insults and braying about being a victim.

1. Yeah but what Samantha Powers said that caused the resignation wasn't classy.
Next.

2. Ooh - she played the "Monster" card...
...um, is there a "monster" card? (hat tip to Randi Rhodes for that...)

3. What Ferraro said was worse.
And she hasn't retracted her comment, whereas Samantha Powers did, and even complemented Hillary in her statement.

8. It is simple
Powers reacted to the lack of class being shown by Clinton with a momentary lack of class. What she did was a human mistake, and she showed her integrity in how she rectified it.

Ferraro has a history of making racially insensitive comments and has never backed away from them. She is a bigot, pure and simple.

4. i guess i don't understand your definition of class...
if geraldine's comments are somehow 'classier'....

monster = sticks & stones

race-baiting = preying on base reactionary emotions

geraldine & hillary have yet to introduce ANY CLASS to this ferraro-comments situation...

7. Much like Clinton and Obama
Ferraro represents the past, Powers the future.

9. Powers made an off-the-record (there is no such thing, but still) remark in anger
Then retracted it with grace.

Ferraro made a racist remark consciously then came back and compounded it and STILL indirectly blamed Obama in her exit
letter.

I'm losing female heroes by the ton this year.

12. Samantha is a hero and a brilliant, classy woman who made a mistake and apologized for it.
Geraldine Ferrero is a hasbeen racist bitch who went down kicking. Its not even a contest.

13. Powers tried to make it "off the record" too, she knew she stepped over the line and tried to pull
back immediately.

Ferraro took 2 days of pounding and repeating her slur before she was able to figure it out.

No doubt.. Powers has more class than Ferraro

I am starting to understand why Mondale/Ferraro was the worst ticket in American history

15. That was gonna be my answer to your rhetorical question..
Look at the way they each apologized in their resignations.

Samantha Power's took full responsibility for her actions. gerry ferraro is out there somewhere still whinging about Obama and why it's his fault she got the axe.

17. Well, Samantha issued a heartfelt apology to the Clinton campaign and promptly resigned...
for a silly little bit of name-calling in anger. Ferraro basically accuses Obama of being an affirmative-action candidate, repeats it at least twice, and then resigns in a manner that one could only describe as "classless".

I vote for Samantha.

18. It's sad that someone who was once a standout for womens' rights
has now resigned herself to racism and playing the victim.

Powers has a ton of class. She makes Ferraro look like a complete has-been.
