1. No, but I might bail soon
I took the past two years off from posting here until last week. I find that it is sapping my mental energy. I am staying up until all hours posting responses and feeling irritated by people's blind support.

29. Me too and...
I only just started posting. I have another headache today and I think it's my own fault for torturing myself reading all the garbage. I'm trying hte ignore thingy for the first time today, so maybe that'll help. Not only that but I'm spending too much time here, mostly because I'm sick and have too much time on my hands. But what if I can't stop even after I get over this pneumonia? Then it'll really be time for an intervention.

But heck, you guys are the only ones who know I might need one - an intervention, I mean. And that's like asking the bartender not to serve you anymore.

Let's face it, nobody here is going to change their minds because of anything posted here. And the few uplifting threads fizzle out pretty quickly.

I think it's time for me to go about making some positive change again, rather than just talking about it. God, I need a caucus soon.

Jen

4. I am aware of a few Tombstoners but...
...I did not actually "know" any of them. For instance I do not recall ever chatting with cyberpiehole but I am quite pleased to see that name gone from our ranks. I voted 'other' because I was slightly confused by the wording of this poll in this regards.

In that case, if I could switch votes, I would vote "Yes, I know of a Clinton supporter who left the DU". Frankly, I am not so sure that cyberpiehole wasn't a closet mCcaine supporter but I grow picky...sorry again for being dense.

20. I don't think the OP meant tombstones
I took it as people who have left DU voluntarily.
What with all the bullying, rhetoric, arrogance, bellicosity, etc. here, I can see why
and, as I have thought and this poll's results seem to support, most is coming from one group!

It's very much like a Bushie-style cult of personality (although I've seen negatives from each faction, but different quantities) and it's extremely alarming.

23. I have seen a lot from both camps.
Oddly, up until Senator Clinton's "Kitchen Sink" policy, I felt that the two camps were equal in size. Other Polls I have seen suggest otherwise. As of a few days ago, I think that Senator Obama supporters here in the DU are ahead perhaps 3 or even 4 to 1! We can easily see that the party is being torn asunder before our eyes by the minority, not the majority. Most of the Obama supporters WERE willing to support Senator Clinton should she have gotten the nomination...now after her showing her true colors, that number has dwindled.

I was one of those who attempted to pour water on the fires around here. I stuck my nose into places I felt would be best for the DU and for our party. I screamed and pleaded with my fellow DUers to recognize how we needed each other, that we should take heart in TWO GREAT candidates! I wanted our party to be strong. Boy did I wind up with egg on my face. It is quite apparant to me that the neocons who infiltrated the republican party have groomed their own 'Democrat' to take over after bush's failed Presidency. They did their job well, most of us were fooled. Now only a few here are yet to see this!

I will support the sole Democrat standing. The false Democrat will soon be pulling the lieberman maneuver after causing as much damage as possible here. Randi Rhodes has suggested that the false Democrat will run as an independent, further weakening our chances against Senator mCcain! I am here fighting for Democracy, for my country and ultimately for the safety of my planet. My concerns are NOT the concerns of the neocons. They seek to rule this planet, they seek to hoard our resources and force the majority into poverty status OR WORSE. We The People have this, perhaps our final chance, to try to reverse their terrible works. DO NOT BLAME US IF WE TEND TO GET ANGRY! The DemocraticParty, historically the party of "The People", has chosen to rally around our final honest party member standing! Please: If you are not at this point with us, join us...help us save America.

YES, WE CAN!

25. Nice sermon
Empty of any specifics, but nice.
So let me guess: Obama is the Messiah come to "save America" (Hallelujah!); Hillary, "the false Democrat" is Revelations' False Prophet, right?
Funny, I would think she'd be called the Antichrist outright! Isn't it the Antichrist who does "terrible works"? Huh.

Non-specific preaching and empty warm fuzzies (just saying the word 'hope' doesn't engender it) aren't going to effect me. Issues are.
Regarding these, quite plainly, your messiah --the one who will save America (Hallelujah!)-- doesn't measure up to Ms. Clintons ...Health Care being the first to come to mind. Now, Hillary is FAR from perfect, but she's definitely superior on the ISSUES than Obama is, and those are my sole concern.
That she's a better choice than McCain is no contest.

And until I see stronger, clearer, more defined and realistic stances on the ISSUES from Sen. Obama, sadly Sen. Clinton will be my choice; no thanks to Kucinich or Edwards for bowing out so early :(
If Mr. Obama wins the primary, then he has my vote.

And any Democrat who does not vote the Democratic ticket --doesn't matter WHO wins the primary-- after these past years of tragic Repuke rule deserves to be ostracized from civilized society and of course does not deserve the appellation of 'Democrat'. There is much more at stake here than ONE PERSON, there are countless DEATHS in other countries due to Repuke policies. I can understand disappointment, but to not vote for a Democrat because your candidate didn't get chosen in the primary is beyond childish, beyond reckless. It is criminal.

26. Glad to have ya...
We will not change each others minds. But here are my thoughts anyway.

I feel that Senator Clinton is being strongly influenced and groomed by those who influence and earlier groomed bush. That is what I "feel". There are plenty of threads here which support this theory to some degree. Her earlier votes for the Iraq war and for a possible Iranian war do little to convince me otherwise. A google of Senator Clinton, Military Industrial Complex does little to convince me otherwise. Senator Clinton's Kitchen Stink maneuver lately has done little to convince me otherwise.

It does not take much tin-foil to figure out that those who put bush into power and benefit from what he has done knew all along that he would be replaced by a Democrat-that a nation sick of his antics would seek change in the form of that Democrat. Doesn't it make sense that they would place their chips behind a Democrat? Put yourself in their place, six years ago, wouldn't you have hedged your bet by placing your efforts behind a Democrat that had a reasonably good chance of getting that nomination? With hindsight, I see Senator Clinton as that person! (What % of the military industrial complex supported Al Gore? John Kerry? george bush?...who do they support now?)

Senator Obama was not my first choice but now after seeing him, I am liking him more and more.
The fact that he has taken in considerably less from the Military Industrial Complex gives me a bit of HOPE that he may lean further away from the war than does his opponent. The war is a big issue for me. No war with Iran is an even bigger issue for me.

Seeing how he has the larger amount of contributions to his campaign from We The People, than does his opponent gives me HOPE that he may actually represent us better than his opponent who has gotten a larger part of her campaign funding from big business, someone she will have to answer to. The hostile takeover of We The People's government by big business and their lobbyists is another big issue for me.

Being that he is not supported by as many obvious racists and "ditto-heads" is another thing that sways me away from Senator Clinton. I believe that somewhere in our distant future, humankind will no longer have a race problem...that humankind will no longer have to suffer such victimizations. Not denouncing strongly the remarks of Ms. Ferraro is a big issue for me! Accepting the help of "ditto-heads"-followers of rush limbaugh, (not to be mistaken with genuine crossover voters seeking to stop the neo-con nightmare), is a big issue for me.

btw: The very notion that we may have a "half black-half white" populist President Of The UNITED STATES re-dedicating the Lincoln Memorial on the 100th anniversary of President Lincoln's birthday moves me to tears!

Finally, anyone who could bring this much of our population together to support his candidacy in the face of the overwhelming Clinton juggernaut which started just prior to her moving to NY...well that is got to be worth something all things considered.

My caucuses are over, I caucused for Senator Obama in Washington State. I am tired of politics as usual. I see Senator Clinton as old school politics as usual and Senator Obama as something different. I could be mistaken but I am willing to take that chance. Frankly, with Senator Obama I feel that I am not voting for the lesser of two evils....in spite of what Mike Malloy says. Turning our nation back to a more progressive program will not happen overnight. I believe that Senator Obama is the precise statesman America needs to start that pendulum swinging back.

If you got this far, thank you. My sincerest thanks for your passion and work for our country,
and again, thank you for your precious vote. :patriot:

And the latest one was one of the best, and most fair, posters on DU.

Very sad. And I don't see the trend changing. Maybe some of Obama's supporters will get their way, finally, and be rid of all of us.

35. I have zero doubt there are people that are pissed off.
All sides of the debate are unhappy (remember--there WERE more than two Dems in this Primary originally.) I think there are a lot of people here at DU that avoid GDP, and I know a few that have said they have hidden this forum completely. (I never see them in here, so they are either telling the truth or else posses a huge amount of self restraint.)

Something that I have come to realize about DU is that EVERY primary gets ugly on here. It was ugly here four years ago, and if you were here in the early days you know the Green/Nader threads were awful. This is a group of political people and they are here BECAUSE they are interested and passionate about the process. It is bound to be a Free-for-all by its very definition.

People get pissed, and people come and go on here--this is what an online board is all about.

Like a kidney stone, this too shall pass--even if it hurts like hell at the time.

39. I haven't left, and will let no one run me off of this board that I have
been a member of for over five years. I admit to disliking the discourse and am avoiding certain segments, because I do not like beating my head against a brick wall, and I certainly do not think it is worth my time to fight with the childish glitterbabies. If you aren't one and can actually talk to a Hillary supporter with respect, then I am not talking to you.

This is my board and I will come and go as I like. That said, I will be glad when things are back to normal around here and the kiddies are back in their playpens.
