All this penny wise/pound foolish selfimportance is annoying me too.

Gallup has been skewing Republican by 5%-7% ON AVERAGE for the past year. The year before they were always running 3%-5% biased toward conservative causes. Their failure to correct for this is so glaring that there can really only be a financial explanation for it.

Kerry leads 48-44-3, and doing the standard split of Undecideds on every non-Gallup poll points to a 52-45-3 win at the ballot box. Even a 45-45-3 poll means he wins.

Strategically Kerry's campaign has been on the mark. Tactically his instincts are good at times and unappealing at others. Anyone here can certainly be 'pro-Palestinian' in personal life. It's just inviable in public life at this point in time. It's not a pleasant fact, but it is a fact. All the Iraq vote problems are a matter of anxiety about maintaining some kind of theological purity while the country wallows in a moral ditch. History says societies forgive those leaders who were reluctantly wrong with them, but they don't forgive those who claimed a moral superiority to their future constituents.

And yes, a lot of the indirectly anti-Kerry stuff is being posted by a small group of posting aliases, and checking on them shows a pattern of unDemocratic opinions and disruptive aims. We've had organized efforts by campaign operatives here before, these folks are not the first or the last. (They seem to be willing to spend money in order to get a little better of a hearing, though.) Figure them out for yourself and stop responding to them. Or find the failure of logic to their effort and jam them up.

Evicting the bush administration is one small necessary step. It won't guarantee social or economic justice. It won't stop the assault on public ed by tests of mass destruction. It won't provide the United States with universal health care. It won't achieve many, many goals on issues of importance to me, and to the planet. And when the pretender hauls his ass out of the nation's capital, all his supporters in congress won't be going home to Crawford with him.

So I won't shut up. Put a democratic president in the WH, and expect to hear the volume go way up on the calls for change. Because then we might have half a chance of actually achieving some good. I'll vote to put Kerry there, but I won't roll over and go away when I disagree with him on the issues.
