So are these new crazy pastor videos going to sink Obama? |
|
Will this be the nail in the coffin for his chances to win the nomination at least before the convention?

but someone from his campaign or better yet...Obama must address this now, before it has an impact on his nomination. I haven't been in a religious institution in over thirty years, so I have no idea what the rhetoric is usually like...but I really can't stand fire and brimstone from anyone on any issue. This pastor sounds a bit looney to me.

8. Yes....because personal attacks once or so removed |

are always what people want to see when they are worried about their own lives.
Since the Muslim stories didn't get him, and the "he's Jesse Jackson" and "he's lucky to be Black" won't finish him off, and since Rezko doesn't seem to be giving to the Hillary camp, the stories of his pastor saying stuff that might offend the good taste of the conservative moral police will.
Just like stories of Bill Clinton's Gennifer Flowers and Whitewater and Vince Foster's death destroyed Clinton's chance at two terms.
and just like Bush's DUI, AWOLness and lying about war cut short his two terms,
this should signal the end of the frontrunner.
Plus considering that most Black folks know about his church very well, I think it only puts the nails on the coffin of a Democratic President in November, if nothing else.

11. Nah.. They're actually a GOOD thing IMO. They'll put the "Muslim" rumor to rest. |
|
And Obama can laugh off anything said by anyone who's not associated with his campaign.
He can repeat what he's already said about the "old politics", using "religion as a bludgeon".
And how's Obama to be held responsible for an elderly retired former pastor who occasionally got a little carried away? If he's rally clever, he subtly can tie Jeremiah Wright's eccentricities to those of John McCain.
All Obama needs to do is keep his cool on this and all the other rightwing/HRC attempts to bait him into becoming "the scary, angry Black man".

14. With all the Jerry Falwell types in the Republican Party |
|
they sure can't say it's wrong to be Christian.
Why is it that Democrats can't be Baptist or Born again or whatever gets them through this life?
Maybe it's because I'm African American and have visited so many churches in my life time.
Preachers are like apples on a tree -- most are well meaning and some are not.
Most people that I know select churches for various reasons ~ their friends/family attend, you like the community service that they do,you like the sermons, the music, the location etc.
Nobody ever questions GWB about going to church when he was telling everyone he was "born again" and found Jesus. What church does he not attend every Sunday?
Gotta hand it to the republicans, they don't really give a damn what you think of them, they just keep stealing votes.

the gop can salivate all it wants, they wont be very successful if they plan on manipulating religious zealots in the country; all of those crazies vote republican anyway. this is a non issue to people who know religion has no place in government. obama understands this, and so does everyone else thats already determined to elect him.

I think most people realize that Obama isn't responsible for the rantings of the (former) head of his congregation. Unless Obama also advocates this man's positions, it's a non-starter. There's Hagee (McCain's supporter, whose endorsement McCain actively sought) out there calling Catholicism the "Whore Church"--so the battle of the nutso preachers will be a wash in the GE.

I stopped going to Babptist churches and such because during the 2004 campaign, it was extraordinary how they inject themselves into politics. In addition, has Wright ever been on stage giving an endorsement to Obama? NOOOOO!
But McCain's is on stage with him and it gets like 1 day of press. F this S**t.

for what one person in her campaign did. Will she have to apologize again? This manufactured controversy reeks of racism, trying to prove Obama is a racist. The bigots couldn't do it one way, so they are going around in circles to do it another. They must love for their candidate to eat their pride and apologize to the nation, and to the AA community.
This totally reeks.

but you know in the GE the RW will nail him with hit constantly in the media and of course on the radio. I happened to listen to a small portion of Hannity on the radio (don't ask me why .. I was moving around channels) and I caught Insannity saying, "What if a white candidate hung out with the KKK or some other white only group would you call me a racist? Then if Obama has gone to the that church for over 20 years what makes him different? Why didn't he leave the church if there is such hate speech he doesn't disagree with?" I think that Barack Obama needs to do something about this now because if the GE turns out into a racist/religious slugfest we are all doomed.
