Poll question: Is it a compromise to vote for Kerry over b*sh? |
|
Will you be sacrificing important principles if you vote for John Kerry rather than dumbya. No, Nader is not going to be included. I want to determine how folks will sort out their philosophical differences between the ONLY 2 viable candidates.

You either vote Kerry or * (including his surrogate Nader).

in a democracy whoever you vote for is who you vote for. Unless this is now a two party dictatorship. I am not voting for nader, i dont personally care for him..but I may not vote Kerry either. He has to win my vote just like anyone else.

8. How is it that Nader is a "surrogate" of Bush when it's Kerry |
|
...who supports a neocon foreign policy?
So let me see if I got this right...
A vote for Bush is a vote for Bush. A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush. A vote for Kerry is a vote for PNAC with a new frontman which is no better than Bush.
Yeah, now that's fucking inspiring! :eyes:

re-elected.
Look, it sounds so cool to say what you are saying, but please think about the hell you are going to put so many people thru when you vote against Kerry.
Is Kerry perfect? No.
Will Kerry listen to you? Maybe
Will Bush listen to you? NO F*CKING WAY.

17. First of all, don't assume I'm not voting for Kerry. |
|
Also, don't assume I am. Frankly, at this point it depends on a few factors. I don't think it at all unreasonable for Kerry to run on a platform that is easily distinguiashable from Bush's in every way ESPECIALLY in the area of foreign policy, since Bush/PNAC foreign policy is not only treason against this country, but has proven to be a complete disaster and has made this country less safe and the Middle East a far more unstable and dangerous place (as if they needed the help).
Second would be Kerry's choice of a running mate. Not even his biggest cheerleaders are going to be able to pass him off as a "liberal" if he picks some DLC fascist hack like Evan Bayh as a running mate. That would be a clear sign that Kerry/DLC are pandering to the right wing, which is not only suicidal, but damned useless, as the right wing already has a candidate pandering to them, and they ain't leaving him.
Furthermore, it would support the theory that the DLC is intentionally throwing the game on this one, as they did in 2002 and 1994.

21. Geezy fucking Pete... |
|
...I wish all I had time to do was search the archives of DU in an attempt to discredit someone with their own words.
Well guess what Sangh*??
My position hasn't changed since March 1. Kerry voted to enable Bush, he's got PNAC'ers writing his foreign policy, took money from FAUX, and has clearly sold out any "liberal values" he might have had in the 80's. Jury's still out on the botox thing, but there's little doubt his appearance changed overnight. So my question is now what it was then....
What reason has Kerry given to vote FOR him.? And "he's not Bush" is not an answer.

3. Gosh, I hope so. This system doesn't work without compromise. |
|
It was set up so many many different people would have to compromise with each other to get anything done.
People who don't and won't compromise get you killed. They destroy civilizations.
They admit no deviance. Put two who disagree and will not compromise in a room and the only answer is death.
I'm all in favor of compromise.

|
Bush scares the hell out of me and needs to go. Kerry may not be perfect but he is far better and safer than Bush.
Remember, that the next president may get as many four supreme court picks (Stevens, Ginsberg, Rehnquist and Sandra Day). Do we want Bush putting four nut cases on the court for life?

13. And the PNAC who put them in office is evil. |
|
And nobody who even remotely supports their fascist policies is worthy of support. The lesser of two evils is still evil and in this case, there's not even a lesser in terms of foreign policy.
I don't care WHAT we have to do, unless Kerry pulls his head out of his ass and dumps these neocon Likud blowing shitheads off his campaign, we need to find a better candidate through whatever obscure procedural means possible. There's gotta be some escape clause if you're stuck with a shitty nominee.

15. And You feel the need to |

force your viewpoint on the rest of the voting poulous at the expense of what? Reproductive choice? Fully funded educatin? Health care? Medicare? Social Security? This argument aggravates me. There is no point in supporting a personal principle at the expense of other people's lives. That makes a person as bad as Bush. There is no perfect candidate. If there were ,he or she would have run. Right now there is only one alternative to Bush and that is Kerry. And as much as I disapprove of some of Kerry's positions, He looks perfect next to Bush!

I don't like how he was talking about Iraq on the Sunday news programs. He seems to be dropping his tough talk edge and sounding too much like more of the same. The only saving grace is the hope that the VP choice will be someone I can stomach.

Compared solely to Bush, no, Kerry is not a compromise. Then again, I don't know anyone here who holds Bush to be the benchmark.
