Will Gore End This Nightmare With an Endorsement? |
|
Gore, who actively sought to distance himself from the Clintons in 2000 at his political peril, spoke with Obama, who said Gore could have a Cabinet-level post if he so desired, last week.
With the bloodfest brewing up for a scorched Earth campaign battle by the Clintons despite having less delegates, states and votes, the situation is becoming more and more like the legendary Gordian knot.
Will Gore be the Alexander to cut it?
Although out of the political realm for some time now, Gore has exceptional gravitas after winning, well, just about every contest known to man.
I doubt that he would actually lobby other superdelegates, but a Gore endorsement could be just the thing to tip the scales for the many Democrats out there that fear political revenge if Clinton somehow sneaks her way into the nomination.
While he has conspicuously sat on the sidelines, the situation is becoming more and more costly by the day. Somehow, I doubt he would do so before the Pennsylvania primary, given that Clinton has a large cushion and it would undercut his message. But I think that he could very well come out in the immediate aftermath to help give delegate-rich North Carolina and Indiana to Obama.
And that would be all she wrote, so to speak. With the delegate count distinctly in Obama's favor, the remaining superdelegates could cast their votes right after the Puerto Rico primary, if an avalanche does not start even earlier.

5. Personally I think he should do it before PA |
|
Put the bloody thing to rest - Gore, Edwards and Richardson should endorse Obama, then hit the campaign trail for him and bring this all to an end.

If the Kennedy endorsement didn't bite big into Clinton's support, what effect would a Gore endorsement have? Ouch!

6. No. He's utilizing Hillarys strategy brilliantly by thinking ahead to 2012. |
|
She will not get the nomination this year with her eyes set on 2012. Thus, she destroys Obamas chances with the backstabbing. What she doesn't realize though, is the Obama supportes are going to have very long memories if the Dems do not get the White House back. Enter Gore in 2012 to save us from Hillary.

12. Yeah, California and New York Are Suddenly Going to Go Red For Bush III |
|
Meanwhile, you forgot Virginia and other big states which would come into play.
Beyond that, Bush won 2004 on voter turnout. And Obama is going to rewrite all the books in November on voter turnout by bringing in tons of people who never voted before.

14. He wouldn't be able to rescue Obama's @ss from this new situation |
|
even if he tried. Do remember he is a political animal and not that stupid to touch this with a ten foot pole.
Will Kennedy and Kerry step forward in an attempt to defend Obama? Let's see. Maybe Bradley will think of something.

18. Gore could have a Cabinet-level post if he so desired? Why would he "desire" that? |
|
Cabinet posts are for people who want to "cap" a career...they're LOWER than VP.
No "cabinet-level post" is BIG enough for Big Al, IMO.

"spoke with Obama, who said Gore could have a Cabinet-level post if he so desired"
Paybacks for SD votes. You agree with this bribery? How many others has Obama attempted to bribe with offers of high level appointments should he win? Isn't that part of what we hate about the Bush Administration?
