Wright is not associated at all with Obama's campaign. He's just a pastor at a church who happens to support Obama.

I think this needed a thread for all the dense Clinton loyalists out there.

1. Wright is though. He's on the African-American Leadership Council,
which is an advisory committee to the Obama campaign.

2. Aren't those tapes something like five years old, though?
Christ, Ferraro puts her foot in her mouth repeatedly and it barely registers a blip on the fucking media's radar.

A several-year-old clip of a pastor of a church that Obama used to belong to shows up and all of a sudden the media goes Watergate. Fuck these guys.

4. It's about time something sticks besides BO's false racist claims
no more double standards, what goes around comes around. People are going to have to speak up about BO and not be PC. He attacks with racial claims but no one is suppose to rebut him. Well things have to change. We can not let his double standard continue. This election is not about race and he needs to drop it.....period

He didn't even call Ferraro's comments out for the horrible ignorant trash that they were--but he did say that they were "absurd" and "wrong-headed".

41. He doesn't need to
He lets all of his surrogates do it for him, just like he lets them do all his dirty work for him. That way he can stand back and maintain his halo and aura of impeccability. What a masterful scheme, and it has worked beautifully.

Wright's committee

Jeremiah Wright, in the news today because video of a sermon (parts of which had been reported, and disavowed, before) adds some heat to the discussion of his relationship with Obama, has generally been described as connected to Obama only informally — a religious figure with whom Obama has said he disagrees at times, a kind of cranky uncle.

But he also has a formal role on the campaign.

Wright is a member of Obama's African American Religious Leadership Committee — the sort of largely honorary, advisory body that in recent days has recently been used mostly to throw people off who say controversial things.

The Obama campaign couldn't immediately say whether he'd remain on the committee.

Together, they represent two groups of key national and South Carolina religious leaders who are supporting Obama’s bid for the Democratic nomination.

These groups are truly without equal and reflect the belief among clergy that Obama has dedicated his public life to living the values of his faith outside of his house of worship. The national leadership committee is made up of presidents of two of the largest national Baptist conventions; the most senior Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, some of the most well-known African American women religious leaders and living legends of the Civil Rights movement, Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery and Dr. C.T. Vivian; and many others.

...

The South Carolina leadership committee includes nearly 130 senior pastors from some of the largest and most important churches across the state. Both groups represent Senator Obama’s support among thousands of Black clergy and religious leaders across America, leaders who have come to recognize that Obama represents change they can believe in.

“This is an unprecedented group for an unprecedented candidate,” said National African American Religious Committee Co-Chair Rev. Otis Moss, Jr., a civil rights legend and former president of the Morehouse University Board of Trustees. “As a lifelong advocate for the less fortunate and the forgotten, Senator Obama lives his faith everyday. He continues to talk about a faith that works to unite and not divide people.”

19. It would be hard to ignore. But I don't think that is a deal killer for Obama.
However, casting it off as just "a church" and "a pastor" is so reminicent of Obama's claim that "Hillary is upset that I did 4 hours of work for a church that was doing a property transaction with Rezko" that I think the whole tactic of avoiding and downplaying mistakes will hurt him greatly in the long run.

9. Even if what you said is true, which it is not, O's relationship with this man
for over 20 years, speaks volumes to his judgement.

He went to church there for over 20 years, he was baptized by wright, married by wright, his children were baptized by wright. Obama wrote a book inspired by a sermon wright gave called the Audacity to Hope.

This is worse, much worse than some person involved in your campaign. This guy is a part of Obama's life. He is obama's, in obama's own words, mentor and spiritual advisor. It goes to who is Barack Obama.

Because if you have a problem with his 'spiritual adviser' being one, then it is logical that you fear he has made Obama a racist. Or even have racist tendencies.

I'll repeat the question.

Is Barak Obama a racist?
