An $8 million Military Defense Contractor Earmark's Ties to Obama Top Money Man
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 11:45 PM by ElsewheresDaughter

Sen. Barack Obama requested $8 million for a military defense contractor that has close ties to one of his most prodigious fundraisers.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/03/13/a_military_earmarks_ties_to_th.html

Obama disclosed the 2006 request on a long list of earmark requests his campaign made public today. The $8 million was for something called a "High Explosive Air Burst Technology Program." The request led to $1.3 million in funding for the program. According to the campaign's earmark disclosure, the defense project was overseen by General Dynamics, one of the nation's largest military contractors. Obama's Illinois finance chairman, James S. Crown, serves on the company's board of directors and his family holds a sizable stake in the company.

Crown and his wife, Paula Crown, are members of Obama's National Finance Committee and have raised more than $200,000 for the Obama campaign, according to a list of fundraisers posted on Obama's campaign website.

The Obama campaign had already made public his 2007 funding requests but had for months resisted requests to share letters written earlier in his tenure to budget committees.

Obama's release of his earmark requests today came with a challenge for Sen. Hillary Clinton to do the same.

"Bringing real change requires changing the way we do business in Washington," said Obama for America communications director Robert Gibbs. "If Senator Clinton will not agree to join Senator Obama in releasing her earmark requests, voters should ask why she doesn't believe they have the right to know she wants to spend their tax dollars."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The press does nobody any favors with its "hands off" policy with respect to Obama's past.
The real Obama is the slickest chicago politician anyone's seen in years.
He has a history of over-promising and under-delivering.
His history of funneling money to Rezko for slum repairs that were never done is shameful and quite literally criminal.
The majority of Americans do not know of Obama's history of repeated Cocaine abuse
Republicans will not be the least bit shy about bringing these facts to the public's attention.
The best hope for America is for the press to do its job and bring these facts to voters attention before its too late for Democrats to choose another candidate.
If Democrats nominate Obama, they will lose.
America can't afford for that to happen.
Messiah and your use of an image of Jesus on an Obama
button is blasphemous. It reflects badly on DU and on
the Democratic Party. Is that your intent in using it?
Muhammad was a prophet who claimed to be a better prophet than Jesus. You think Obama is better than everybody else so why not a drawing of Muhammad? Not quite that brave, huh?
:rofl:
"All hat, no cattle" fits Obama and his followers as well as it ever fit Bush.
61. Do you think that helps Democrats?
When artists display work like that in a gallery, it may not cause any stir since not many people go to galleries.
Your creation is a far more artistic image than slapping an image of Jesus on an Obama button, and it has
obvious meaning: Americans purport to care about Jesus and patriotism but care more about money. That's a
fair criticism and one that many artists have made.
Still, it is offensive to Christians, and intended to be so.
But worst of all, it's posted on Democratic Underground, which makes it something freepers can copy and send
to FOX. News migrates, even from FOX, especially when the media are being paid to pull for McCain. Notice
that after Obama pulled ahead in delegates, they started attacking him, after months of building him up.
They will continue attacking our nominee and will be lauding McCain as a war hero, straight shooter, maverick,
and, most of all, a patriot.
We know DU is not affiliated with the party but members are supposed to be Democrats, so what;s posted here
gets used against delegates and images are often far more damaging than words. I hope you'll consider taking
that image down from DU.
64. No, not removing it.
I'm not going to cower and live in fear over what Fox News might do, and I trust that like you, people are smart enough to get it's meaning even on the frillion to one chance Fox uses it. Whether it helps Dems or Repubs or vegans or mermaids doesn't concern me. The statement is valid, and wider that one political party.
As for it being offensive to Christians... I'm offended by many of things done in the name of Christianity, and I'm even more offended that good religious people remain silent all too often, letting the whackos define their religion, and letting them become the defacto face of Christianity. That should offend honest Christians far more than the lame art of a lone nut online. :shrug:
for your candidate to be losing this election she should have had in the bag by Feb 5th. Now, instead of trying to stick to the issues and convince us that her lame health care plan would ever see the light of day, you must resort to bringing up Senator Obama's drug use as a young man. Wow. How shameful. But I don't believe for one millisecond you're a Democrat. Tell me this, where was Hillary when Monica was sucking off Bill Clinton in the WH? I can't believe she still had that blue dress hanging in her closet with his presidential DNA all over it. What a shame. What about Vince Foster, Ron Brown, et al. Since you want to revert to the past, let's bring all of that back up. At least Obama has never been accused of outright MURDER.
They were saying crap like this over an ABC news story about Obama's pastor's racist sermons.
The funniest part is that the article revealed that the chuch SELLS tapes of his sermons.
How did Obama think that this would not get out when he signed the Rev up for his
campaign?
I really think Obama is a stalking horse for the GOP, meant to take a dive so McCain
wins.
We told you this would happen but you all went drifting along in your bubble, dreaming of hope and unity and
no specific promises from a slick talker, a slick talker who was then getting a free pass from the media. They
loved him, or rather, they pretended to love him.
Now that he's divided the party by portraying the Clintons as racist, which is ridiculous, the media attack him
about all the shit you guys didn't bother to find out because you were so caught up in the persona he projected.
With facts coming out, he's going down the drain fast.
Hillary Clinton Lands Earmarks For Campaign Contributions
LA Times | Tom Hamburger and Dan Morain | December 10, 2007
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/10/hillary-clinton-lands-ear_n_76048.html
It's a real estate developer's sugar-plum dream: a mega-shopping mall complete with 10 Broadway-style theaters, an indoor river, a Tuscan village and a 39-story luxury hotel sheathed in green solar panels shaped like giant blades of grass. Plus as much as $1 billion in government-backed financing, thanks in part to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton....
...Since taking office in 2001, Clinton has delivered $500 million worth of earmarks that have specifically benefited 59 corporations. About 64% of those corporations provided funds to her campaigns through donations made by employees, executives, board members or lobbyists, a review by the Los Angeles Times shows.
...........
Oh yeah - Hillary and Bill - :wow:
wouldn't come back to bite HIM in the ass for attending this jerk's church?
Obama's preacher saying, repeatedly, "Goddamn America"?
Obama's preacher saying the US invented AIDS to kill black people? (Guess he doesn't recall it was first seen in
gay men, who are not all black.)
Obamaniacs can't stand seeing the truth come out about the not-so-perfect man they love. Quit drinking the
damned Kool-aid and pay attention to reality.
HRC is electable and far preferable to McCain, though I'd prefer Kucinich.
McCain would beat Obama.
