What's your take on this article?
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/printpage/0,5942,9328751,00.html

Seems that there are quite a few Aussies and Brits (there have been other articles with similar themes) from the leftist antiwar camp who see Kerry as more dangerous to world peace than Bush. I seriously doubt that articles like this are done as favours to Karl Rove even if that pustulant puppetmaster would take glee while reading this. Most people here are liberal and, I assume, in the antiwar camp. Please answer honestly...what do you think of the points made in this article? Forget the personal feelings towards Bush and Kerry for now. Is this article accurate? If there are distortions and falsehoods here, I would appreciate seeing them pointed out and refuted. For the record, if I was American, I definitely would not vote for Bush and probably would hold my nose voting for Kerry...but I admit reading things like this give me pause for thought.

key quote: Serious neo-cons, indeed, might be calculating that the bungling Bush is more of a liability than an asset for their desire to remodel the Middle East and to consolidate the US's unchallenged military power.

1. this election is about more than just foreign policy
People who choose to look at one issue, no matter how big a focus it is getting in the media right now, miss the point.

Bush is bad on EVERYTHING.

Bush will fuck up EVERYTHING.

Bush has fucked up EVERYTHING.

Bush has to GO.

That's the point.

And as far as this story goes....I think its the work of someone's overly pessimistic imagination to think that Kerry will be more of a warmonger than Bush.

2. Typical RW garbage...
I will only say that there are no points to refute, as it is a complete and utter op/ed piece without any substantive evidence presented. Now, if Mr. Laughlin wishes to express his views, with citations, I would be happy to do battle with his viewpoints, but like his RW cronies in the US, he doesn't present anything specific, only innuendo and the usual tripe. Not worth my time.

3. Exaggerations of Kerry's positions to make him appear worse than Bush.
Typical disinfo from faux leftist journalists used to depress voter turnout for Democrats.

4. I just love how he points out that Kerry is more hawkish than Bush*
when it comes to the Saudis. I just wish he would have also pointed out that Prince Bandar's mom is more hawkish towards the Saudis than Bush* is.
