30. Welcome to DU, Sundance
I really miss Clark, so am very glad when he's battling the media for Kerry. He's so adept, smart and handsome, sincere and charming, gosh I could go on and on.

I think he already knows he will be Sec. of State in a Kerry administration. This is a great fit for him, IMO. He's much too qualified to be VP, even if the VP's role is extended by Kerry.

27. Just watched
the magnificent defense of Kerry's military record during and after Vietnam.

Wes Clark can communicate and cut through the BS like no other. I really enjoyed the way he weaved Kerry's record back to how Iraq is currently being mishandled. How the military is being used to solve everything...which is not what they were trained to do.

Bush and Rumsfeld are mis-using the military.....
Our uniformed men and women are, in fact, being abused by this administration!

Go Clark....Go Kerry!

6. Thanks. That's probably why
I couldn't find any mention of him on today's HB schedule.

But it also means I'll have to wait until tomorrow for my Wesfix, since Blitzer's on while I'm at work and doesn't repeat.

But Wes was impressive as always.

He is simply a great man. It makes me a little sad, though. Kerry is damn lucky to have Wes working for him.

22. Thank you!
I'm sorry I missed it, but from the transcript I can see he was eloquent as always. His remarks on the war, and the problems of using troops to no specific purpose except to "get democracy" and to deal with the political problems we've created, were just right.

And his defense of Kerry was excellent. I like the way he said Vietnam is a welcome debate, and framed what Kerry did as evidence of courage, character and commitment.

Love that general!!

25. This part was so great
BLITZER: Let me get back to the question. Thirty-three years before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is this even in your opinion a legitimate subject for discussion, his record, his military record, how he behaved after he came back home?

Some of his supporters say we shouldn't go there just as some Bush supporters would say the whole issue of the president's service in the Texas Air National Guard really is a subject that the case closed.

CLARK: Well I think it's a wonderful subject for discussion as long as you approach it with the understanding that he's a young man who put his life on the line in combat, put his reputation on the line when he got home to speak out.

I think it's a great testimony to John Kerry. He was a public- spirited person who lived and acted on his beliefs. Surely that's what we're looking for in a president of the United States.

And compare him with our incumbent president, and what he did. I support John Kerry. And I'm proud to do so because I think he's a man who cares deeply about this country, and he has the courage to really commit himself to it. And he's shown it over a life time of public service.

Oh, that's my Wes :D

28. Major error in the transcript
Decide for yourself whether it's malicious or not. You know CNN...

The transcript reads:
CLARK: Well actually I've heard that from a lot of people because most people I've talked to that happened over there are things that happened over there that shouldn't have happened. And in some cases they know about him, in some cases they know him personally, some cases they've heard about them.
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0404/22/wbr.01.html

But I've listened to my tape a number of times now and what the General really said was:
"Well actually I haven't heard that from a lot of people because most people I've talked to know that things have happened over there that shouldn't have happened. And in some cases they know about them, in some cases they know them personally, some cases they've heard about them."

Clark's main point is that veterans do NOT all agree with O'Neil because they know, either first-hand or from what they heard, that these bad things did indeed happen. By changing "I haven't" to "I've" they've got it exactly backwards--and the rest of the mistakes are (probably) just incompetent transcription, but they make Clark sound stupid.

Please write and let them know. Their feedback page for this show is at: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?8
