Can someone please help me understand MI and FL?
My current understanding is this:

MI and FL wanted to move their primaries up.
The DNC said "No."
They were told that, if they went against their party and moved the dates up anyway, they would be punished accordingly.
They did it anyway.

Now, it seems, just about everyone is trying to find a way for those two states to have 'do-overs' that would be fair to both candidates.

WHY???????

Why can't the people of those two states take out their frustration on the elected officials who are responsible for this, and just go ahead and vote
in the GE?

Why is someone going to have to pay millions of dollars so that these re-elections can occur, when the consequences were clear beforehand?

If you don't take your final exam in college on the day that it's given, you get an 'Incomplete.' You don't get to say, "I think I'll take it a month early"
and still expect it to count.

And you don't get to have the professor come in on a special date, just for you, either.

Why is this even an issue? Do rules and consequences mean nothing? I really don't understand the reasoning.
Can anyone fill me in, please?

1. You are right - the elected officials made the call so its up to their constituents
whether they support those elected officials in the future.

2. Michigan has been fighting the primacy of GOP states for years.
The non Democratic small states reduce the choices when it comes our time to vote. As A Michiganian I resent it. My candidate was eliminated before we got a chance to vote. So why vote. The remaining choices I find not worth my bother.

3. As a Floridian and NOT some campaign operative
I'll answer the question as to my state. Our highest priority was for us to have a paper trail in all elections so that what happened in 2000 can NEVER happen again. We DEMANDED our reps get this done. They did the best they can do but the republican led-legislature would only allow it to come to a vote if it was tagged with a provision that moved Florida's primary to the 29th-it was THE ONLY WAY it could get us a paper trail...the DNC then decides to disregard our primary so prolly half the democrats in the state didn't even bother voting-because it wasn't gonna count anyway

6. The DNC "prolly" decided based on rules
There were procedures the FL Dem party could have taken but they didn't. Even with the primary moved up. Karen Thurman and the rest of the Party did nothing to mitigate the damage when it would have made a difference. Prolly.

10. So basically you're saying
Your Republican legislature fucked us again?

And in our own primary this time?

I hate Republicans and the people who elect them.

12. You left out one important fact
It was a Democrat who introduced the Bill to change the primary date. If he didn't introduce the Bill in the first place, it wouldn't have been an issue. Can you explain that?

5. Well, I agree with you, BUT,
some people are saying -- and I think they have a point worth thinking about -- that the Florida and Michigan voters are not going to understand that fine distinction, and they're going to take it out on the Dems in the GE.
