It's Now Pretty Clear: R's Fear * Defeat Means End of R Party. Discuss!
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 11:59 PM by stopbush
They're foaming at the mouth, trying every diversionary tactic they know, name calling, character assassination...and none of it is working. Calling Clarke a "perjurer: on the floor of the Senate. Calling Kerry - A SITTING SENATOR!!! - "Hanoi John" on the floor of the Senate. It's disgusting. Even with the media in their back pocket, nothing is working to prop up bushco.

Notice how a few Rs have seen the writing on the wall and are positioning themselves as moderates - Hagel et al.

But I think they all realize that bushco has indeed committed unpardonable and treasonous acts; that they have sent our youth to die based on lies; that they could have stopped 9/11 but didn't. The cognitive dissonance is overwhelming. The R's are like the fans of a sports dynasty that has fallen on hard times - they just sort of assumed that they'd bounce back from this one. But they're not bouncing back - they're sinking.

The stench of * will infect the R party for YEARS, even DECADES, just like Nixon's stink was strong and unsavory.

It's all on the line for the R's this November. If bush falls, then the party will go with him. Maybe not this year, maybe not in 2006, but soon. A few Dems get chairmanships in the right committees and the shit hits the fan. If you think the stuff they're allowing us to learn is outrageous, imagine what the REAL dirt is going to be like when it sees the light of day, because the Reagan Revolution, the Contract on America and the * presidency were all based on lies and distortions, and the chickens have finally and disastrously come home to roost.

Just my 2¢.

2. From my point of view...
...I would be happy to see the end of the neocons and PNAC. I hope that these particular groups get shot down in flames.

4. Body bags have to be streaming home
before Idiomericans realize what war means. Hopefully the Bush stench will last at least 20 years, before we go through the whole mess all over again.

5. If the Democrats had any guts that party would have been over
years ago. Or last year. Or in 2002. Anyone have a backbone the Democrats can use at least until November?

What the repubs have done over the last 20 years is disgusting, illegal, immoral, unethical, etc. Where were the Democrats???

7. If Clinton had not deregulated the media more and instead had
reinstated the fairness doctrine that the fascist Reagan got rid of, we would not be in this rePIGlican fascist nightmare now. I only wish it were a bad dream.

One thing Bush has done is unite and awaken the Democrats/progressives/liberals like at no time in my life. The people have pretty much had enough of the 3 year attack on America, driven by naked greed and the ideological dismantling of our government. They've declared war on the middle-class tax-payer, the consumer, the environment...they are taking down every prudent and progressive regulation and protection afforded to the middle-class that have taken decades to develop.

I always ask people today when people indicate support for Bush or Republicans, in general; "why are you a Republican". It's amazing how shallow their convictions are, when confronted by the hard, cold facts.

Really, I do think we are witnessing the end of the Republican Party. I think history will note that the financially richest political party in US history, died penniless in terms of principles and ideals. It amazes me that a Party who ruthlessly fought to take control of all facets of government and which enjoyed the complicit support of corporate media, was unable to survive more than a single election cycle. They couldn't help themselves....they put their parochial interests ahead of our national interests.

8. Because they know...
that demographics are against them. The pendulum is swinging left, much as it swung right from 1968 to 1988. Jimmy Carter won in 1976 because of Nixon's corruption, Bush the Lesser won because of Clinton's mistakes and the SC's corruption. They know that without the 'War on Terror/Iraq' they have nothing to keep the middle voting for them. They MUST win, just as the HAD to win in 2000, to prevent the country from marginalizing them in thier little corner where they deserve to be.
Bush the Lesser will be the Reich Wing's Jimmy Carter: the one spot of brightness (for them) in a 20 year stretch of minority status.

9. I'm beginning to see them PANIC myself...
it's getting harder to defend him, especially on the war. The market is not going well, jobs not back, unemployment still not up like they thought. Bush is crashing, hard. If we get enough power back they are all going to jail. Corrupt bunch of loonies.

10. Most the pieces of the Pub Puzzle are now known.
They show a whole lot of Negatives.

11. Religious Right already controls the party
and it is a very uneasy coalition with the secular libertarian types.

I think the battle for the GOP will heat up, the fundies really going all out to conquer it and leave no prisoners.

In that case, it seems clear that at a minimum the NE Republicans need to bolt and form their own, regional, moderate conservative party, or they will face extinction.

For details on the religious right takeover of the GOP check out this website: http://www.TheocracyWatch.org/
