The preachers and the media's double standard |
|
So let me get this straight: John McCain can actively seek the support of RW crazy godbots (anti-Catholic, anti-Semite, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-humanist, anti-Muslim, anti-everything this country actually stands for) and the news media barely mentions it, even though these maniacs advocate a war with Iran in order to bring about a nuclear Armageddon so that they can have their beloved "Rapture" and, according to them, all of the Jews will gloriously convert to Christianity (talk about rampant anti-Semitism!). But Barack obama's preacher says something crazy about 9/11, and it's Obama's fault? And I am quite sure if a preacher associated with Hillary Clinton had said the same things, the media would also be nailing her ass to the wall. After all, she IS a Democrat, and a Dem MUST be blamed for what ANYONE says during their entire waking life. But does ANYONE here remember Bush or Cheney or any other Rethug having to go before the American people and apologize for their association with Robertson or Falwell after THEIR remarks about 9/11? I would absolutely LOVE to see McCain or Bush or any other Rethug make a big deal out of this and have them try to weasel their way out of endless support the RW Christian thugs that they salivate after. Maybe - just maybe - this will make people think twice before dragging religion into their campaigns. A candidate, as the Constitution says, cannot be given ANY religious test in order to be elected to or hold office. And if the media wants to make a big deal of all of this, how come they don't have that crazy Fred Phelps on the news 24/7 - you know, the RW Christian who says that U.S. soldiers are going to burn in hell because we are a godless nation. Funny they don't mention how he is NEVER condemned by Bush or McCain or any others who lust after the crazy RW preachers? This is NOT about Obama. This would happen to ANY Dem candidate. If the Republicans do it, it's fine -the media discounts their associations. But if a Dem does it, it is though they had written the preacher's words themselves. The double standard of our glorious media still holds true: IOKIYAR!
