Is There A Difference Between McCain And Obama WRT Questionable Religious Figures?
The short answer is "yes", there's an enormous difference.

Let me start by saying that I DO NOT agree with Wright's statements. They were over the top and ridiculous. (I should also point out that I never made a single comment about Geraldine Ferraro one way or another, as someone may try to bring up that issue up later)

At any rate, no one should be rooting for anything that may be potentially damaging Obama, unless of course they'd prefer John McCain to become the next president (Obama is still ahead by a good margin, and while there's a chance he'll lose, we are still Dems at the end of the day). Which brings me to my second point.

If you want to compare questionable religious figures, and more importantly, their potential influence on Obama and McCain, it's no contest. McCain wins (or loses I should say) by a landslide.

Let's say Pastor Wright really does hate Whites/White America. If so, he's a divisive fool, but do you think Obama is going to push for a bill the hurts white Americans? Or some kind of Black-Supremacy bill?

***In what way will Obama's pastor influence an Obama presidency in any damaging way?*** THAT is the fundamental question here, and if you answer it honestly, you'll soon realize this whole thing is drastically overblown.

By contrast, do you think bomb-bomb-bomb-Iran-there will be more wars-McCain might start another war in the Middle East, which happens to be desired not only by Rev. Hagee (the guy who wants to expedite the rapture through more Middle Eastern conflict, and gave McCain an endorsement McCain said he was PROUD of) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo1fRjw2DsE , but also by McCain's "spiritual guide" Rod Parsley (who thinks America is BASED on fighting Islam and that Islam must be destroyed) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeAkePP-C8I&feature=user (?)

I realize some Hillary supporters are rejoicing today, and praying this story sinks Obama. I couldn't disagree with that sentiment more, but at the very least, PLEASE for the sake of Obama AND Hillary, do NOT let the media beat the shit out of Obama over this *while giving McCain a pass* for issues that are FAR more serious and that far too many Americans are simply not aware of.

PS---Also, share this article if you want to defeat McCain in November, regardless of who your candidate of choice is: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5075701&mesg_id=5075701

4. It looks like a lot of news shows
are having Obama on to speak tonight so hopefully he can put this baby to sleep.

I don't do religion so this all like a foreign language to me that I respect from afar.

Thank you for your attempt at rational discussion on the Pastor White controversary, ihavenobias.

6. k & r Rev. Wright may be problematic, but compared to McCain's bozos?
No comparison for me.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the little bit of Wright's statements I've heard didn't sound so egregious. Especially compared to McCain's 'end times' crazies. No, I haven't heard all of the Wright statements that everyone is angry about.

But, bottom line: Obama separated himself from it. That's what McCain's going to need to do, so perhaps they cancel each other out in the general. I'm still leaning towards Obama at this point. Clinton's voting record and the recent behavior of her campaign turn me off. And McCain is pure nuts.

Obama's our best chance at this point, that's the way it looks to me.

7. One can't help but admire the way Obama is dealing with this flap.
I can't imagine a better leader for a popular movement. Or for the free world right now.
