Statement from DFA on Whats Really "Real" in response to Kerry campaign
DES MOINES -- "We read today's story in the Boston Herald in which Senator Kerry's communications director questioned whether 146,697 supporters actually donated $15,386,183.25 to the Dean for America campaign.

"Frankly we can't figure out what is more confusing -- questioning the veracity of Governor Dean's record-shattering fundraising quarter or announcing with glee that your candidate raised only 20% of that, forcing him to dip deeply into his own pocket to fund his campaign.

"But, seriously -- is the Kerry campaign accusing Dean For America and its grassroots network of supporters of cooking the books when it suggests that only their fundraising total 'is real?'

snip

"A Kerry fundraiser summed it up best in yesterday's Boston Globe: 'I'm dying out there,' said this Kerry fund-raiser, a veteran Democratic moneyman who spoke on the condition of anonymity. 'There was so much excitement about John Kerry early on, and now there's none.'"

1. I'm still undecided, but Senator Kerry is --
--on my list of preferred nominees. I like his big mind and his ability to think on his feet. Next to George W. Bush, Kerry looks mighty strong. I believe that Bush would be intimidated by most of our nine announced candidates. Bush would have to face one of our nine for three debates. I think Gore let Bush off easy last time; I don't think Bush gets a free ride this time.

ABC News cited "low poll numbers" and "cost" for pulling three producers from the campaigns of CMB, Kucinich and Sharpton. I wrote ABC and admonished them for a deliberate attempt to diminsh the impact of these low-polling candidates.

Democratic primary voters should not use the same criteria to judge our candidates. Our side has eight men and one woman with talent to spare and much to bring to the American table. George Bush has a failed war, a jobless recovery, spurned allies, and an inability to articulate an inspiring vision of American life.

Low numbers don't eclipse high skills and good experience. If he were to be our nominee, I would line up in the driving rain to vote for him over that smirking moron in the White House.

2. It's like when they question the
"veracity of Governor Dean's record-shattering fundraising quarter" instead of acknowledging the facts, it makes me think of ostriches.
