South Dakota DU'ers: What influence will Bill Frist have on Daschle's |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 08:20 PM by roguevalley
re-election?
Not that it makes much difference anymore, he's such a woosie. But I'm worried about the balance.
EDIT: Yikes! Sorry, South Dakota and North Dakota. I should know better. I live in Alaska and we're always referred to as Canadian or as Arkansas due to our abbreviation: AK.

3. Will the people of SD care? Will there be a backlash? |
|
Are there some DUers from SD who can let us know how this is playing out?
There is a lot of outside influence in this election and sometimes voters react badly to that.

5. Daschle will get re-elected... |
|
The junior senator (a democrat) won re-election there in 2002. Daschle's minority leader so his re-election is pretty safe. Daschle's opponent (the guy who Frist was backing) backed out and endorsed Daschle so Frist looks like a horse's ass at the moment.

6. good to hear this. Sorry about messing up on which Dakota. :( Usually |

don't make that mistake. LOTS of Alaskans and most of my friends are from South Dakota. (And Minnesota) Think they would want warmer climes.

7. Well, i live in SD, and i give Daschle a 55% chance of re-election. |
|
Personally, i'm not voting for him, since he caved on the war, and i'm really just fed up with his repub appeasement ( i guess it's appeasement, but maybe those are his real positions). People think he has to take those positions in order to get elected, but i don't think it matters, because there is a certain segment of the population that will not vote for him no matter what; the rest are either democrats or people who vote for him because of some personal experience with him or who have benefitted from some particular policy. His opponent, John Thune only lost to Tim Johnson by about 500 votes last time, so it could go either way. I think though that Daschle's position as majority leader and the years of doling out federal money will probably get him through this one.
