If the case may be, Hillary doesn't want the VP job and Obama shouldn't offer it to her |
|
It totally perverts his change message and fires up Hillary haters, gives him media distractions he doesn't need or want that Bill and Hillary are secretly running the show and sabotaging him at every turn. It goes on and on.
Just a stupid silly idea.
If it becomes apparent the superdelegates will chose Obama after June, Hillary will cut a deal.
She'll do two things. Get commitments of support for senate majority leader by bowing out and push for changes to the DNC primary rules that will give her a boost in 2012 if Obama loses.
Namely:
1) Giving the big states more of a role in settling the nominee by allowing big states the option of having winner take all primaries like the republicans do
2) Making caucuses much more democratic similar to a firehouse primary. Making them on Saturdays. Giving people a 6 hour window to show up at a site and allowing secret ballots for those that will feel intimidated by openly showing their support for someone.,
3) In exchange for these 2 big things that benefit her, she'll make a concession to get rid of the superdelegates that are equally undemocratic once and for all.

1. Indeed the idea is to bring us together -the Obama fans (also known as Hillary haters) and Hillary's |

supporters
but I suspect the Obama fans would rather lose in Nov than let go their Hillary Hate.

7. Personally, I'd rather win in November |
|
And I suspect most Obama supporters feel the same way. I'm going to vote for the Democratic nominee no matter who it is, and honestly, if it becomes unwinnable by August, I'd rather Clinton be the nominee.

15. I'd also rather win - and I think both on the ticket - in any order - is the only way |

9. Strangely, I think that's what the OP was saying |
|
And I agree. I think an Obama/Clinton ticket is a terrible idea. I'd be more receptive to Clinton/Obama, depending on how the rest of the primaries go.

obama on her ticket would lift her up, and she could capitalize on his message. The other way around doesn't work. I think that's what Hermie was saying (or similar) - but I think I'm in shock.

10. Yeah, that was pretty rational |

The only thing I don't agree with is winner-take-all primaries, especially in big states. They might be more efficient but they are undemocratic, just like the electoral college. I think some changes need to be made to the delegate allocation system, but winner-take-all primaries are not the answer, IMO.

12. well there are various formulas they can use |
|
They could limit the winner take all to 50% of a states delegates and the rest would have to be proportional.
But if they get rid of superdelegates, they need to give states the option of winner take all primaries. It's the only way to get these nomination fights over and it's a good preparation for the general election as that's how presidents are elected.

and can take it to the convention and make Obama unelectable.
She'll be able to get anything she wants if she agrees to bow out gracefully in June and spare the party a convention civil war.

the democratic party isn't going to go for a suicide pact. If Hillary is reasonable with her requests, and asking for support from party leaders for Majority Leader when Senator Reid steps down and asking to make the primary delegate process more democratic and fair is hardly worth fighting her over.
It'll be the cost of giving Obama his chance at the Presidency and if he fails Hillary will get hers in 2012.
