There are various stories as to why HRC hasn't released her tax returns. Should HRC release them and put the sory to bed?

8. the end game? she will have to release them or lose in November |
|
I would prefer that she release them before it is too late for Democrats to make a decision. If there is crap in the tax returns, and we don't find this out until October, we are doomed. We need to find this out NOW. It is crucial that we nominate a vetted candidate. She ain't vetted without the tax returns. Not by a long shot.
Tell me, why try to hide something? Is there a reason hiding makes her look good? It certainly makes it look like she has something to hide. There is only one way for her to remove this doubt. (unless, of course, there IS crap she is hiding...which at this point I would not be surprised)

14. There is a HUGE difference between releasing them before the Dems decide and AFTER it is too late |
|
At issue is whether us Democrats can have the information before we make a decision on Hillary. If there is nothing bad in the tax returns, then no loss for Hillary to give them up now. But if there is dirt in them, we need to know that before we nominate her. Once she is nominated, it is too late to do a do-over. So it is not like "potatoes or potatas"....it may well be the difference between a Democratic president and President McCain.
I cannot for the life of me see why Hillary backers cannot see this. You don't inspire trust by hiding things. At first I just saw this as a vetting issue, making sure our candidates are properly vetted. But, the more these tax records are kept hidden after the attention it has received, the more I am becoming suspicious that there IS something being hidden. Just what I don't know. But at this point, it would be to Hillary's advantage to release them if they are indeed clean. And I cannot imagine Hillary NOT doing anything that would be to her political advantage. The fact that they are NOT releasing them at this time is curious to say the least....

Obama has released 2006. Tag, you're it, Hillary! Just what is your point? Obama is bad because he ONLY released 2006 but Hillary is good because she hasn't released even 2006? Could you please explain?

it will look like she's hiding things (which I believe is the reason for the delay). This is SOP for candidates at this level. I don't give a FUCK for McCain. This is about dems and this is what dems have done for years. If she wants to be trusted, she has to be trustworthy. If she wants to be a leader, she has to EARN IT. So for, no sale. I cannot believe how they think people don't care about this. As we all get poorer, the fuckers with money are going to have to be more transparent. i won't vote for anyone who isn't. I'm tired of candidates doing things for their portfolios.

Who? Obama.
Edwards didn't release his. In fact, up until a couple weeks ago, NO candidate has released his taxes prior to getting the nomination. This is an entirely made up issue.
But she has already said she'll release them. People here keep saying she's refused - that's just another lie told by clinton haters.

18. She isn't measuring up to her own standards |
|
If she did, then most of her records would already be out, since she would have released her returns when she was reelected in 2006.
Further, if she claims people need to be vetted, she should release her returns so she can be vetted now. They are a phone call away.
She first said she wouldn't release them during the primary, now she is delaying for no reason. Can you give me any reason why should release them around a week before the Pennsylvania primary but not release them now? She is needlessly delaying (unless she has something to hide, which may or may not be the case).

I don't think she has anything to hide. I plan to vote for her in NC in May, and feel confident that there wont be anything huge hidden amongst them. Though I am sure that SOMEONE will try and pick out SOMETHING. Blowing things out of proportion seems to happen on both sides these days.

|
Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 10:58 AM by Ichingcarpenter
From the war and the economic downturn of others.
Face it, the economy is going into a tailspin, there is talk about the Feds doing a bank holiday today to help straighten out this mess. As more people are losing their jobs and houses, their economic status, the question of who is getting rich over this crisis is something they will look at and vote upon.
Expect a backlash when her financial dealings come out because if she didn't have anything to hide she would have released them ages ago.

35. What if Hillary became the nominee and the tax returns came out |
|
and showed what turned out to be unethical or even criminal problems relating to their sudden, massive aquisition of wealth? What if it showed Bill gave pardons in exchange for donations to the Clinton Library? We'd be stuck with a huge problem going against McCain. If she's got nothing to hide, I don't see what her problem is with releasing copies of her tax returns today. Both McCain and Obama have.
