They were 'changing money' for scape-goats/doves inside not just 'the' temple... |
|
But within His/Jesus' Father's House bringing worldly lies, misrepresentation & ways therein...not good, and yeah, the practice upset Jesus very much seeing His Father's House tainted so.
When will we see Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Africa? We see his America everywhere. He needs to generate some righteous indignation against what Africa is doing to herself within *his* house i.e. Dafur, Hotel Rwanda, plagues, famine, unchecked suffering, greed, corruption, dislocation, etc.
People of European descent are not the only ones capable of rank behaviors upon other people. This is a contentious world in that regard.
To preach around one's contribution to such sorrows, is to stick that splinter into your own eye.

2. Are you basing your nonsense on a few sound bites? |
|
Or do you really know what that particular congregation may have been doing over the decades?
Seems you prefer flamebait drive-bys based on nothing rather than actually doing some research. :eyes:

5. The matter is really very simple, in another thread it has been suggested... |
|
that Jesus was actually a violent person tipping their tables (money changers), whipping them and so on. The efforts, the gymnastics, the slack rope walking complete with parasol to alleviate Pastor Wright from his own tongue whether you agree with his pulpit or not are beginning to step off the map. Why? What research are you referring to? Matthew 21:12? Rendering unto Caesar, perhaps?
And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.

get this post. Rev. Wright is an American. What does it mean what Arica is doing to herself in "his" house? Who is "his"? Is this suppose to refer to Rev. Wright? What is Rev. Wright's Africa? Are you saying because he is black he should be focusing more on the wrongs going on in Africa? Of course, Africans can hurt other Africans. Europeans can hurt other Europeans. No one is denying this. And, Americans can hurt other Americans as is evident in the race relations and legalized racism (segregation). And, by the way, when I lived in Louisiana a few years ago there was still an ongoing lawsuit (over 40 years going) because the schools in the town had still not desegregated. Remember Rev. Wright is an American! It sounds like you are putting him in some other category that this because he is Arican American. Wright is an AMerican looking to take the splinter out of America's eye.

6. In his sermon that has everyone quite up in arms he states himself... |
|
the confusion & chaos wrought upon AA's. He starts out with whites here in America; but you can hear him check himself and reach for the larger brass ring...the descendants of Europeans. There've been more than a couple of threads here these days recently that mentioned this Euro-centric theme. Some see only that, some do not. Some see only the picture they are shown. Some see a wider view.
I do wonder what Pastor Wright sees when he casts his eye all the way around the world. What will he see?

7. He is trained in theology |

as am I. Eurocentric is a term used in theology, even among whites (and I am white and a woman). Most white Americans are the descendents of Europeans. You don't need to overinterpret the European thing.

8. When he speaks to folks not come for such nuance... |
|
He does them no favors, but incites instead. He offers no proviso as in, "Now I'm going to be addressing you from a theological vantage point. Let us all pick up Theology 101, and turn to page 14...are we all there yet?"
No, he conveys with images he knows will paint pictures in the minds of his listeners. Look, I think all preachers should be held accountable the white ones, the black ones, the brown ones, Moon; they have the hearts & minds of their flock in the palm of their hands.
All these little vessels longing to be filled up. It's what they're being filled with that should engender concern.
