this is great!

Wow.. This gets my blood going after just seeing the Quinnipiac poll today.

Cmon Toomey get in there baby..

In event that Spector wins, I am going to be organizing a "Conservatives for Hoeffel" campaign for the GE.

We'll be campaigning on the premise that we prefer 52 seats in the Senate with Jon Kyl chairing the Judiciary Committee, than 53 seats w/ Spector chairing the Judiciary committee.

If we can get well-funded, we plan on running radio ads this fall.

7. yes, but I beleive there are limits
and he has to step down after this session. Specter is next in line, unless he loses, where it would go to Kyl, or Leahy if the Democrats retake the Senate.

11. Term limits will affect several republicans next year
Ted Stevens (AK) is term limited at the Appropriations Committee. Thad Cochran (MS) is next in line.

John McCain (AZ) is term limited at the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. Ted Stevens (AK) is next in line.

Orrin Hatch (UT) is term limited at the Judiciary Committee. Chuck Grassley (IA), Arlen Specter (PA), and Jon Kyl (AZ) are next in line in that order.

Arlen Specter (PA) is term limited at the Veterans' Affairs Committee. Larry Craig (ID) is next in line.

10. Conservatives want Grassley to step in
Chuck Grassley is the next most senior republican on the Judiciary Committee before Specter and some conservatives want him to invoke his seniority over Specter. But, he will probably want to stay as chair of the Finance Committee so he is unlikely to change.

Of course, this is all irrelevant becuase the democrats will take control of the Senate and then we can have chairman Leahy. But, there is the possibility that Joe Biden will invoke seniority over Leahy and leave the Foreign Relations chairmanship for Judiciary or maybe Ted Kennedy will use his seniority to become chairman.
